You're kidding, right? How many mainstream auto rags have gotten a 12.9 out of a Camaro SS? And how after the debut long did it take them to get it? GM will have to put a nearly 500hp mill in the existing SS to outrun this car, or around 460-470hp just to keep up with it.

On it's first run the Mustang GT hits a 12.8, you don't seriously think the numbers wont get better as time goes on do you? Long term I'm looking for 12.6 second times from the auto rags.

Two things still irk me about the article

#1. Calling the car in a league of its own with a .1 advanatge in the quarter and identical traps.

#2. Still standing by the rwhp figures. This car is 412hp. If it had 435 with a 3620 curb weight it would have been faster...bottom line.

Every single mag got 13.0 or 12.9 on the first try...where have you been?

And now we are splitting hairs. If you cant admit this is a drivers race you are delusional.

What is going on with the 39k price as tested? that is crazy
That's with everything. NAV, highest level trim, I think it has the glass roof too. If you spec the car to match what you can get on a 2SS/RS they are very close in price.

Every magazine got 13.0 or 12.9 on the first try. I didn't notice any going back and retesting for better numbers.

I definitely think the numbers will improve with real world drivers, but I'd imagine it'll be consistent with the R/T, '10 GT and SS improvements (approximately 4 tenths seems to be the magic number). Which would still put it ahead of the SS by a tenth, which isn't all that large of a number (but still ahead!).

I was close. I expected a 12.9 lol. Either way, this is going to make the terminators looks foolish.

Nah terminator can still hang just fine. They were trapping like 113 or so when motor trend tested them with a 12.9-12.8 1/4.

Good numbers... One thing, add 3.73 gears to a stock SS and the times are even closer if not equal.

Oh yeah they can hang, but it appears this new 2011 GT will surpass them.

I was thinking the same thing. But thats not really fair. The 3.73 gears are a factory option for the mustang. If it runs faster because of them its all good in my book

These are good times here, not all that impressive considering the quarter mile advantages it has...3.73's, SRA, 200 lbs lighter than the Camaro, and more expensive to boot.
I was expecting m/t to pull a 12.6, maybe someone else will.

Damn impressive #'s for the V6 though, very nice.

If we get down to brass tacks and believe that the 2011 Camaro will offer a 3.73 gear, I think you will see it match or edge out the Mustang 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

It will be a drivers race any away it is sliced.

I believe the 2011 SS will have 3.73's as a factory option

But will it really help that much? The camaro can wind out 3rd gear and not shift into 4th at the end of the 1/4 which is ideal.

Adding a 3.73 gear may hurt in that respect. All though it will help pull the heavy weight of the car off of the line. It might give another tenth or two at most......or none at all
