Update on GearHeadPeter

Jan I am sorry to hear about your loss.

I haven't been on much the last 1.5 weeks so I will try to make it fast.

My biopsy for my prostrate came back negative on Tuesday 10/18 morning, yea - and then ten minutes after that I was being rushed to the hospital by ambulance with severe stomach pains. The wife had to call it in from work for me, and I was just laying at the front door waiting for fire department EMTs to arrive.

What I found out is that if you are transported to the hospital by ambulance there is no waiting in ER, and it is like you go through a VIP door. Very cool as I could not have wanted the pain to go on for hours in ER.

Wife arrives at the hospital just as the ambulance arrives, and at least I get a pain shot and all the tests begin. It seems all this worrying about my prostrate caused servere pancreatitis with an inflamed gall bladder. A few more tests showed that my gall bladder had to come out, and it was done on 10/21. The doctor still needed to make sure I was OK as I still had some pain so I had to have another procedure on Monday. I finally left the hospital on Tuesday at 6 PM and am recovering at home until Nov. 7th.

All of this did not bother me as much as the doctor saying I could not fly, and I really can't walk very far for a few weeks so I had to cancel my SEMA trip.

Now all I can think about is that I have more chances to do some cool things and look forward to SEMA next year.

Well it is time for another nap, and another day closer to getting better.

As Jan said live life to its fullest as we do not know what the future holds. If you wanted to take a trip or do something you always wanted to do, Just Go for it as you only live once!

Peace out and hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Peter

Pete,

Sounds like the last few weeks have been a real roller-coaster. I'm glad to hear you're on the mend.

Have you already unloaded your SEMA ticket? Some one very close to me is looking for a pass (me).....

GearHead - Glad to hear the prostate was OK. Sorry about the gall bladder. But that bad boy is pretty easy to live without. I haven't had mine for about 6 years now. No big deal. Hope they let you fly again though. Keep getting better.

DianeOkra - I won't be able to make it to Indy for CFestIII. Too expensive to fly.... too far to drive. Talk to HotRodSally, I think she had some ideas for an alternative location for us ol' dudes and dudettes.

Diane, I've been wanting to float the idea of a gathering place out west for the old farts/fartettes/dudes/dudettes who most likely will not be able to make it to Indy in August...

A location/date that has garnered some interest is Tahoe in June.

Anybody game?

So sorry to hear of all your troubles, but you are soooo right about not waiting to later to do the things that are important to you.

I am sure the reason why your doctor doesn't want you to travel is because of the risk of blood clots. You definitely don't want to mess with those things.

Prayers for all those here in need......even the unsaid need.

I love Tahoe and would love to go, but June will probably not be the best time for me because of the Hot Rod Power Tour......depending on what date you all set. I know we won't all be able to do whatever gets planned.......so maybe someone should set up a poll. I would (selfishly) suggest either OKC or Dallas, because of the Hot Rod Power Tour in June, or Indy, because of the C5Fest in August.

I plan to be in Indy in August but don't anticipate making 2 trips back east next summer, speaking strictly for myself.

It's really up to "the gang."

Out of curiousity, what do you consider "back east"? Is there anyone that can put together a poll? I've met a couple of "old farts", but it would be fun to get together in one spot. I know some that would qualify as "old farts" but don't participate here.

I think I could do Okrahoma City or Dallas. Even that is "back east" to me. I've got cousins in Dallas I could stay with. Either June or August is OK but not both for that far away. Tahoe would be perfect for me. If I went to Okrahoma or Dallas in June I could maybe do Tahoe later in the summer also since Lightning could get there in just a couple of minutes.

So, I vote OKC in June to assist the folks who are more out that direction. And then I can still meet with others in Tahoe some other time.

The amount of time it would take me to get to Indy and back is just too much, so I won't be going, although I really would like to. OKC is doable, I think, but Tahoe would be ideal.

Peter, glad to hear you're on the road to recovery - get well soon!

Just about anything beyond the far side of the Grand Canyon . As the crow flies, I'm less than 300 miles from the Pacific ocean, so there's a whole lotta "back east" to me.
