ZR2 media drives are going on. Lots of off roading as expected.

The black one is looking tough, especially with the flared out fenders.

Love the white one huggercamaro21! Sure wish they would get the configurator up and running on the site. I am seriously thinking I may have to pick one of these up!

Full review on the 15th.

I didn't realize this:

Quote:
JUST THREE OPTIONS

You can make only three choice for ZR2 options: which engine, crew cab or extended cab, and carpeted or vynil floor.
I guess it's fully loaded otherwise. If so, i'd feel a little better about the price point.

Saw that as well. Looks like on average Duramax Crew Cab ZR2s around here are stickering around $46k MSRP. Not sure what dealer options like the sport bar and bed mounted spare cost, but I'd guess if you added in those two you'd still be under $50k.

Really love this truck and what it offers except I feel the diesel is a little too small. I currently have a LBZ duramax. I do not think I could live with a 2.6L 180 hp and 369 ft lbs of torque engine in a 4,711 pound vehicle. Yes the torque is nice out of a 4 cylinder but I really think they should have made a v6 diesel for the working man in this truck and it would have been what most need in a truck not towing 3/4 ton equipment. I mean the jeep grand cherokee is around the same weight and that v6 diesel is right on par with what this truck needed to make it right.

I have not drove this. Any inputs on this?

I've driven a Z71 Duramax. It won't win any races but the power is adequate for daily driving. As for the ZR2, the Duramax is perfect for rock crawling.

I can see the rock crawling part of it low rpm tq. Although fine for daily driving and a truck is what I am not sure of. They were trying to bridge the gap between midsize truck and full size truck for a jack of all trades. I would assume a v6 diesel would have put them in a position that would have got them to the goal rather than a 4 cylinder diesel. Although you can easily tune in more hp and tq but the displacement will be small to make much more.

I guess this is relative. Small truck buyers probably will not know much difference with an 8 speed automatic. Most mid size truck buyers do not tow alot of weight or use the truck around here anyways. I am not the typical demographics for this truck either. As I more inclined to by something like the F250 diesel raptor concept.

To be honest the diesel is more there for fuel economy than to create a "heavy duty midsize." The increase in capability is just a bonus, but the real headline behind the Duramax is the 30 MPG highway.

Just not on the ZR2

FYI: You can now build a ZR2 on the Chevy website. It popped up around 1pm today.
