I did too. At least the career will take a while to complete. Plus I don't think it'll just end with nothing else to do.

It keeps going until you complete every single race. Which is pretty hard to do. The main goal of career is to place 1st in every race.

I kinda wonder if they'll try integrating real-life racing series into the game like ALMS, NASCAR, V8 Supercars, etc. I feel like Forza 4 tried doing that but they weren't official or anything.
