Coming from the technician side of the whole pushrod/dohc debate I would prefer they stay pushrod. They could design a new head with 4 valves that uses a bar between two valves similar to the Duramax and achieve the desired result of more valves without over complicating the timing components. Working in a dealership that sells Chevrolet and Ford, I see a good amount of failures in the Ford DOHC applications. The only benefit I can see to having a DOHC would be for racing and it's ability to adjust intake and exhaust valve timing independently which could make sense in a mid engine Vette meant to compete at a higher level of performance than the current layout.

Mid-engined C8 speculation.

Complete speculation until GM confirms:
Production begins in January. LT2/LT6/LT7 engines, two gasoline, one hybrid. C7 will continue production until 2021. Possible front engine redesign to follow. http://www.gminsidenews.com/articles...on-in-january/

LT2 = Hopped up LT1?
LT6 = DOHC V8? LT7 = Hybrid? I'm very excited to see more!
