15 years on my dad's truck, 10 years on my Envoy.

Prior to that it was 13 years on our Safari and 13 years on my dad's Saturn.

The only car I've owned for less than 9 years is the one I rolled after 18 months...whoops!

It is the opposite with us. My dad had a 97 BMW and it never hesitated on hi in the time he had it.

Edit: And with my family cars usually don't stay long. The longest that I can remember is my dads excursion, he had it for about 5 years and put roughly 220K miles on it and overall it was one of the best overall cars he has had. The only thing that went bad were the power locks all of them went at one time

BMW's are normally reliable cars, but when they have a problem, it's usually expensive. lol

Know someone that had a Mini (which is basically BMW now) and the trans broke right out of warranty. Since it was an auto it had the CVT (back then the trans was made by Chrysler) and it was gonna cost 8K to buy a used one and drop it in. Basically not to far from the cars value

That goes for all German makes.

My dad got rid of our S-class because he couldn't afford to fix it anymore. And that was with a friend of his getting him discounted parts from a dealership.

The Brits are the same. Try chaining a spark plug in a 98 Jaguar XJ8..... You actually need to disassemble half the motor and get down to the heads. I have also helped my dad in replacing the head gasket to a 99 Land Rover Discovery, how that car went back into one piece is beyond me lol
