my head really hurts... i've been on dozens of websites & 3 other forums trying to find a decent engine for a decent price for my truck. after spending all day coming to grips with the fact that my only vehicle is semi-permanently incapacitated & i ain't got a clue as to where i'm gonna get the money to fix it, i'm pooped! :(

have you checked the junk yards? I bought a car to resale and ended up having to replace the engine and found one at a junk yard pretty cheap with low mileage

been working on that. the best one i've found is $750 for an 02 5.3 w/116k. comes with ecu, harness, complete engine from oil pan to intake cover, bracket, accessories, & a 6mo warranty... but it's gotta be shipped from new hampshire
 i was hoping to find all that cheaper/closer, but no luck (& i don't think it'll get much better than that). the V8 swap would also require new frame & engine mounts, coolant & heater hoses, fuel line mods, & a couple other things. the sad part is that it would cost close enough to that to just replace the V6 ps - thanks c5 for the link |

If I get a chance tomorrow Ill call the local junkyard and see what they have. and for how much. I dont know if they ship or not but the engine i got was 150 bucks with a 30 day warranty and 40k miles
