Morning all. I signed up for a local contest to win a new camaro. I also have good news and bad news today. Shall I start with the good news or the bad news?
The bad news is that the gas in the tank in my motorcycle has long turned to varnish. The good news is that since it was stored inside, and with oil in it, the varnished gas doesn't seem to have made it beyond the carbs. Which means the seals, gaskets, etc. seem to be in good shape still. Going to pull the carbs off soon and get started on cleaning/rebuilding/bench syncing them. After that we're going to do an oil change, spark plug/wire change, fuel filter change, air filter change, and put in a new battery while the gas tank soaks with some sea foam in it. Hopefully it isn't rusted too badly. After all that, we're going to fill her up, put a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder, hand crank it a few times, and try to start her up! Hopefully she runs. If she does, from there it will just be a matter of vacuum syncing the carbs and getting started on the fabrication! If she doesn't, it'll be off with the carbs again, out with the engine, and off to a shop to have the entire thing rebuilt. - Xanthos
