I know what you mean, I spend more time on that forum and doing research on gun parts and reloading components for the Grendel then I do for my Camaro. |

Today I decided I don't like revolvers and don't understand the fascination with them. Other than reliabilty and the possibilty for ammunition exchange.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had that kind of money for that type of superior rifle series. They look awesome. The AICS kit reminds me of the Rhineland Arms Leopard 10/22 stock they have. I am thinking about getting one for a 10/22. Kind of cool looking. Here is a picture of it. I wish I could try it out first to see how it feels/fits. Prices on website are: Leopard in Walnut-unfinished $140 Leopard in Mahogany-unfinished $130 Blemish stocks, not always available $90 First is the Leopard, then the AICS.

So, i'm thinking about purchasing my first gun. mainly for home defense, but I would like to take it out to the desert/gun range once in a while. Also get a CWP later down the road. Now, the only gun i have ever shot was a shotgun when i was maybe 12 or 14 years old. I have a .22 pellet pistol. That's about it. lol
I have a few co-workers that probably have 25-30 different pistols/rifles between them and we plan on going out and shooting in the near future. The gun i'm looking at buying is the XDm 3.8 9mm. I've been reading up on it, plus i really like the way it looks. ![]() anyone here have experience with this gun? and what do you think about it?

I've got 2 XD's, a XD 9 subcompact (the size smaller then that one) and a XD 45 compact (which is the same size as that one) and absolutely love them. I highly recommend the XD line to everyone.
Before you decide on caliber you need to decide on what the main purpose of that gun will be. Is it going to be a carry gun? If so then get the 9mm. Do you plan on shooting a lot? 9mm ammo is a lot cheaper then 45. I can buy 9mm plinking ammo for about half the price of 45. Also shooting 150 rounds of 9mm in a couple hours is nothing but shoot 150 rounds of 45 in that same time span and your hands will know it for the rest of the day. |

I have two XDs as well a service model 9mm and a .40 cal sub-compact. I carry the .40 almost everyday when I am home with the exception of when I am on the bike, then I carry my lil Ruger LCP in my back pocket. I can honestly say I love the firearms that Springfield is popping out these days, I have a Lightweight Operator 1911 friggin thing shoots like butter. Looking to get one of their M1-A1 Scout rifles as well. You cannot go wrong with Springfield have not a single issue with any of their firearms..... wish I could say the same about some of the firearms I have purchased from other manufacturers

for you guys that do have the xdm 3.8, do you use it as a CCW? just not sure if the 3"subcompact would be to small.
i think i'll be going to the gun store and/or bass pro shop to see if i can get my hands of a few xd's.

I use the 3 inch XD subcompact, not too small at all, they come with a magazine / grip extension perfect for CCW you need to get your hands on one for sure.
