I would try a little wax first, whatever you have is fine to start; I use Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax for this kind of thing, probably just a little residue not scratched.

Id start with a clay bar then move to polish if that didn't work

For scratches on my car that can't come out with polishing, I usually I would take some paint and fill in the scratches with it then buff the area until the filled in area matched the outer edges. You could also wet sand if you put in to much paint.

I love it. But then again your cold weather comes with snow and below freezing temps. Cold weather here is 60s in the day time.
