Cool...great news, did anyone expect anything less? Not really I think....may the battle continue on... BTW it makes no difference to me personaly.....it's all good for both of us. I am really happy with my ZL1, and to be fortunate enough to actually be able to own it. For those consumed with current times and statistics between models, remember...it's a war...not just a battle.

Another reason the Z was built for the track in mind and not the 1/4 mile. Of all the electronics in the car, there are no 0-60 or 1/4 mile timers. The only timer is lap timers for the track along with a G meter.

Nope, I'd know this because I'm able to read.

As Jamal Hameedi explains, "...this project didn't start out trying to outdo anyone or anything. It was really about keeping the separation in the Mustang line-up. Just like Porsche has the 911 and a GT3, which is track-focused--not the crazy power but a good, agile balanced car, an all-around good track car--and then you've got like a GT-2 which is... the fastest in the lineup on a track, in a straight line, top speed and everything. ...It's the same thing with a [Corvette] Z06 and a ZR1. ...but we did such a good job with the Boss that it was pretty close to the Shelby GT500, and so what we wanted to do was... keep that separation from the Mustang GT to the Boss to the Shelby GT500."

Just an FYI, Jamal Hameedi is the godfather of SVT.

Why is this thread hidden? Why is it not in the Camaro Vs section?

Just as an FYI, I can turn my launch control on, set traction control to whichever setting it takes, and drive around waiting for a stop light.

There's no 'last second' setting it up if I don't want to wait.

And if I don't want to drive around with it on, it's a single button push from 'off' to 'on'

Just a heads up. The car still > me..

My performance measuring thing gave me a 9.2 0-60 second time.. lol,, something was a bit off there

Yet they put launch control in the car and put quite abit of effort into running 11s and making sure everyone knew it.

Unrelated to the quoted post, i have seen a few people talking about braking as if the zl1 does it better, yet all the evidence so far suggests otherwise. The category yet to be seen is handling alone. I still believe the zl1 will have higher cornering speeds, but the big question is if that will be enough to overcome the deficit in acceleration and braking.could end up depending heavily on the track selection.

ZL1 vs. '13 shelby GT500

So the specs are out and journalists tested the mustang. So far other than the power numbers, I'm not impressed with the specs. The mustang tires are 265front and 285 rear vs. 285 and 305 rears which makes a big difference in traction and stability. The front brakes are a bit bigger 15 vs. 14.6 but it's not a floating rotors and they fade. The weight distribution is 56\44 vs. 52\48 which makes a huge difference in handling at high speeds. Regular, 2 settings suspension vs. Adaptive, magnetorheological suspension. No front tower brace. Has recaros though -i'm pissed that camaro doesn't have them. No short throw shifter. Has better gas mileage though(for those who care). Costs approx. $7,000 more with similar options. I can bet the mustang will lose 1.5-2s on Nurburgring. Not to mention that the camaro looks much better - in my humble opinion.
Sorry if I was a bit biased - I own a ZL1.

So,what do you think and what would you guess for Nurburgring?

I still dont get it......a Camaro vs. forum that doesnt alow the "other guys" to defend themselves against the Camaro guys when they talk smack. Ive been kinda banned before because I though that was just plain stupid. I was told "its a camaro site" so deal with it.

If thats the case, then this Camaro vs. forum needs to go away now doesnt it....

Only the Camaro guys are allowed to talk smak and when the "other guys" do, its not allowed because its a "Camaro forum"......Whatever again. most likely will get the boot again and not see this post........

The huge $$$$$ difference is an issue. MT as tested price is $64,770. For the GT500.
