So, on interesting comment on the Jalopnik site about the Challenger in the video being an unmarked car in pursuit. That still doesn't seem logical though, because it seems like it would have had it's lights on (especially passing on the right) and would have been the one to make the stop (not the much slower K-9 unit).

I wonder if that one will come up again, though.

So... now we need to consider whether or not we should start a GoFundMe for the innocent driver (assuming that's how it turns out). That guy surely had his car towed, and it's been in impound for a few days. THAT ain't cheap, and there won't be any breaks given to him just because he was the wrong guy (A buddy of mine was rolling along in his Saturn, 55 MPH, probably even whistling a happy tune, when a cop threw a spike strip in front of him, destroyed four new tires. Turns out, the REAL pursuit was of a Jeep, on a different freeway. Did the cops cover the cost of my buddy's tires? Nope... collateral damage, they said... it's your duty as a citizen to suck it up).

It's going to cost this guy a few bucks to get that car out of impound, and if he can't get it immediately, the storage charges will continue to accrue at an alarming rate.

I would imagine he'd have a case in small claims court, that's destruction of property.

The counter point would be if you did that to a cop car trying to 'provide citizen aide' in stopping ie. a speeding jeep; you'd be cited for destruction of police property.

If the video and pictures are accurate and if they are confirmed by the officers own dash cam (which would be icing on the cake) - this guy and his lawyer(s) will have a field day in court.

If its any indication by the officers response; We don't have a criminal justice system, we have a legal system and its flawed. Luckily, cameras, dash cam, social media, etc. are finally bringing to light the injustices (or lack of justice) in the world and its angering people, which I'm hoping is the first steps to real change.

Ok so I just spoke with the person I mentioned earlier in this thread and he said yes it was him and that they dropped the charges. I mentioned camaro5.com but I don't know if he will post here. I also told him about jalaponik so it appears that all is good now.
