If specific output is identical to the 2.7, I don't see why it wouldn't, simple math shows that the 2.9 should produce 350/400 with a tune similar the the 2.7's F150 tune. As for replacing 3.5? Probably not. More than likely we'll simply see different tunes used between the Ford vehicles and those from LMC. Just to further differentiate them from one another.

I'd imagine with the 5.0 receiving the alterations is has, we should see a similar gain to what Mustang has. Though with F150 being tuned for more low end torque output I doubt it'll be an identical +15/+10. The current 5.0 in F150 generates 360/380, so I wouldn't put something along the lines of 370/400 out of the question.

Ford Details New V6 Engines for 2015 F-150, 2.7-Liter EcoBoost Rated at 325HP

Ford has officially revealed specs for the 2015 F-150’s engine lineup, with the all-new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine rated at 325 hp and 375 lb-ft (508 Nm) of torque.

Fitted with this engine, the F-150 has a maximum towing capability of 8,500 pounds (3,855 kg) and a maximum payload of 2,250 pounds (1,020 kg).

The power-to-weight ratio of the 2015 F-150 2.7-liter EcoBoost has been improved 15 percent over the 2014 5.0-liter V8-equipped F-150 with a similar torque output. The engine is fitted as standard with Auto Start-Stop, but Ford hasn’t released yet fuel economy ratings.

The 2015 Ford F-150 will be offered with a standard 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine with twin independent variable camshaft timing that produces 283 horsepower and 255 lb-ft (345 Nm) of torque. With this unit, the F-150 has a maximum towing capability of 7,600 lbs (3,447 kg) and a maximum payload of 1,910 lbs (866 kg).

Thanks to vehicle weight savings, the standard 3.5-liter V6 with Ti-VCT offers a 5 percent improvement in power-to-weight ratio over the larger 3.7-liter V6 in the previous model, with better fuel efficiency and performance. In addition to the new V6 engines, the all-new 2015 F-150 is also offered with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 5.0-liter V8 with Ti-VCT.

“The 2015 F-150 is the most capable F-150 yet, while shedding up to 700 pounds. These two new V6 engines – the 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost and normally aspirated 3.5-liter Ti-VCT – set a new standard for Ford for capability and efficiency,” said Bob Fascetti, vice president, Powertrain Engineering.

Ford also says the F-150 2.7-liter EcoBoost outperforms Ram 1500 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3-liter V8 while towing a 7,000-pound (3,175-kg) enclosed trailer up Davis Dam in Arizona, the same grade the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) uses for its J2807 towing testing standards.

All-New 2015 Ford F-150 Pricing Goes Live, Starts at $26,615

We’ve learned much about the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 in the last few months: that it will make substantial use of aluminum; the output, weight, and tow ratings of models with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 and 3.5-liter V-6; and now we know how much the 2015 F-150 will cost. Ford has released pricing info, and the base XL and XLT models will increase by $395; that translates to $26,615 and $31,925, respectively.

Ford has simplified the lineup as well, going from ten models to five. In addition to the XL and XLT, there will be Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trim levels. The price for the Lariat increases by $895, to $39,730. King Ranch models go up by $3615, to $49,690; Platinum models by $3055, to $52,155.

With the price increases come increased standard features. The XL and XLT receive a 2.3-inch “productivity screen,” a 4.2-inch LCD screen in the center stack, and a telescoping steering wheel. The XLT adds BoxLink, a flexible cargo-box system and a power-locking tailgate—features not available on the 2014 F-150. The XL and XLT are offered in regular-cab, rear-wheel-drive models with a 6.5-foot-long cargo bed.

The Lariat adds to the above list of features an eight-inch gauge cluster, LED cargo-box lighting (not offered on 2014 models), heated/cooled front seats, power-folding sideview mirrors, and a rearview camera. The Lariat is offered only as a SuperCab with a 6.5-foot-long bed and rear-wheel drive.

The King Ranch builds upon this with quad LED headlights, LED taillamps, and first-ever LED spotlights built into both sideview mirrors. In addition to the locking tailgate, there is a power remote release, 110-volt front/rear power outlets, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, push-button start (not available on 2014 models), a heated steering wheel, real wood trim, and rear heated seats. The Platinum tops it all off with massaging front seats and inflatable rear seatbelts. Both the King Ranch and Platinum models are standard with the SuperCrew and 5.5-foot-long bed and rear-wheel drive.

As far as powertrains are concerned, the XL and XLT have the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6; upgrading to the turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 runs you $495. Moving up to the turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 costs $1995. The Lariat offers the 2.7-liter V-6 as standard with the 5.0-liter V-8 available depending on wheelbase. The 5.0-liter V-8 is standard on both the Platinum and the King Ranch, with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 a $400 option. Regardless of powertrain, a six-speed automatic transmission is standard and four-wheel drive is available.

The all-new 2015 F-150 is kicking sand in the faces of its competition in all the factors that matter: price, performance, and value. How the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, the Ram 1500, and the Toyota Tundra will fight back remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: It’s going to be an epic battle for every inch of market share.

2015 Ford F-150 Starts at $26,615

Dealers start taking orders for the brand-new 2015 Ford F-150 pickup this week, and a Ford spokesperson has just confirmed pricing for the truck’s redesigned lineup. The lineup is simplified to five models—down from 10 last year—and the base XL truck starts at $26,615 with destination, just $395 more than the 2014 F-150.

The XL model comes standard with a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 283 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. Upgrading to the 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 costs only $495 extra and brings much higher totals of 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque along with a maximum tow rating of 8500 lbs.

Next up is the $31,925 XLT model, which also comes standard with the 3.5-liter V-6 and offers the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 as a $495 option. This price is also up $395 compared with last year’s XLT model. Although we don’t yet have full details on equipment content for the different trim levels of the 2015 Ford F-150, we do know that the new truck offers more standard features than its predecessor, not to mention significant weight savings from its new aluminum body.

In addition to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6, XL and XLT models also offer the 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 that carries over from last year’s truck. It will cost less to upgrade than before, though, as the 3.5 EcoBoost now costs $1995 over the base naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V-6--$400 less than the upgrade cost last year.

The Lariat trim level goes up $895 in price to $39,730 with destination, and it comes standard with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6. Although some trim levels from last year including the STX, FX2, FX4, and Limited are gone for 2015, a Ford spokesperson told us that the 2015 Ford F-150 will offer packages with equivalent equipment packages. For example, the FX4 trim level will be replaced with a stand-alone off-road option package. Stay tuned for more information about the option structure for the 2015 F-150 as we get nearer to its arrival at dealers.

The two top trims of the 2015 Ford F-150, the $49,690 King Ranch and $52,950 Platinum, both come standard with the same 5.0-liter V-8 engine, carrying over from last year. Opting for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 costs $400 extra, and both of these Crew Cab models are not available with the smaller 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6.

Wow I'm surprised the STX and FXs are gone. I'm disappointed as the STX is the model I would go for since I don't need all the comforts in a truck I will put to work.
