He and his family will utilize this security for the remainder of their lives. Long after anyone cares who they are anymore. In high school which was a private school Citizens Christian Academy (2002) we were allowed to have firearms on campus in our vehicles. Knives on our persons with a 3" or shorter blade. I actually used a bolt action 410 in a school play as a prop.i never once seen someone get stabbed or shot. We were all mere yards away from our weapons if a rampage occurred. We had no security guards cameras or anything....we didnt need them. We wanted to fight principal rish would throw us gloves and let us hash it out like men. I'm starting to think being in the Bible Belt deters a lot of kids from committing heinous crimes. I mean I still leave my doors unlocked at home. Different culture breeds different criminals. I'd say our biggest problem was teen pregnancy. There is nothing to to in this town but each other. Idea....put security in schools similar to the penile system. Make it difficult to smuggle a paper clip in. |

I think you have a point about the "bible belt" (never head it called that before ). But if I'm not wrong... discipline is actually used in those types of schools right? Where kids actually learn there are repercussions for their dumb behavior? I think many children are missing that in their lives.

I am also in the process of having an AR-15 lower transferred over to me and, even though the hubby is giving me numerous options for a build, it is still nice to be able to come to just one forum and read things (rather than join one of the gun forums and feel completely overwhelmed!). So having an actual sub-forum, with different threads, would be very nice to see. |

..... I don't know what you're trying to defend here..... I don't want the federal government protecting my family, I can do that myself.... just quit making bullshit laws that make that difficult. Oklahoma is arming it's teachers... God bless them! I hope they never have to fire a shot. But the next Adam Lanza will likely NOT choose an Oklahoma school!

And what I said about Lanza, you kind of reinforced my point. Why would I ask him anything? He was a nutbag. The NRA's commercial, in my opinion, is completely ineffective. That's what I was getting at. They are comparing the average American child with the First Family. I'm sorry... it's just not the same. That statement wasn't about who's life was more valuable, not at all. It's purely about social status. They are bigger profile targets, and given a reasonable choice between the average American child, and those children, it's not even a contest for someone that want's to have their moment of fame in the news. The argument is no more effective than comparing guns to cars. The reason we are progressively losing this fight, after decades and decades of small restrictions, is that so many gun owners can't argue logically. Anti-gun crowd can't either. The difference is, that there are more pro-gun that sound like loony bins than there are on the other side. And this commercial is a prime example. Edit about Columbine: The security guard (deputy) had a firefight with one of the kids (yes outside). There are multiple articles floating around attributing that short distraction to the escape of some of the kids, including at least one injured (who hid in a break room during the exchange of shots). How many fatalities did it prevent? I don't know. But if one shooter was engaged with one deputy, he wasn't running around the school shooting up kids during that time. Higher profile? Maybe.
More important or more "valuable"? Never. No child is more important than another. The reason the Secret Service protects the President's children isn't for the children's sake, it's so that no one can harm or kidnap those children in an effort to blackmail or leverage them against the President. That's all. And the President does not get Secret Service protection for life. As I recall, Clinton is the last President to be given that priviledge. That being said, I have no idea what point kalimus is trying to make

On a side note, I found this
![]() In this day and age we must ask ourselves, America, are we safe enough? Our nation is on the edge of collapse. Every day tens of thousands of us are injured or killed by others and by dangerous items in our homes. We must do more to ensure our own safety in these difficult times. We must rid ourselves of anything that may harm us or others. I propose a new course of action. A course that will help protect us, our children and the future generations. Today I propose the Rubber Spoon Act of 2013. With this act: The U.S. Constitution will be suspended temporarily. The military will be activated and martial law will be declared. RSA Compliance Centers will be established in all neighborhoods where illegal items can be voluntarily surrendered. RSA Enforcement Inspectors, the US Military, your local police and the Boy Scouts will then begin conducting searches of each residence. They will be under orders to inspect, search for and arrest or confiscate the following: Anyone with warrants Illegal aliens Anyone with STDs Unpaid parking tickets Illegal drugs All guns and ammo Knives Hammers Baseball bats Bathtubs Hotdogs Bows and arrows Dogs larger than 10 lbs Jury duty scofflaws Unregistered/unsafe/gas guzzling vehicles Motorcycles Any electronics that are not UL approved Inadequate smoke detectors Expired food, milk, eggs etc. Garden rakes Missing mattress tags Red meat Pirated software, movies and music Alcohol and tobacco Fire hazards Lawn darts Large frying pans Forks and of course...metal spoons Thank you, And God Bless America! |
