I really don't think the Camaro will be as common as the mustang.

Times are very hard for the U.S , and there are many dealers who won't budge on 10k over MSRP in big cities ...

Just don't see anything as being as common as a Mustang.

It will take years but they will be close eventually, at least relative to the Challenger with it's lower sales volume unless GM surprises everyone with a body style refresh at 5 years rather than the 10+ that's been more typical for the Mustang and Camaro. As for the dealers that won't budge on high markups now will budge plenty when they are sitting on the lot like every other car and ultimately won't matter much, though they will slow down initial sales slightly other dealers making sales will keep things moving.

Speedy, you could have the Camaro drop shipped to the dealer of your choice. When I ordered my Corvette,I purchased it from a dealer in Detroit and GM drop shipped it to a dealer in Wisconsin.I hope you don't have regrets with your purchase of the Chally when you see your 1st Maro on the street!

As much as I hope the Camaro's will sell like hot cakes, I'm starting to have my doubts. Not because of anything with the car mind you....just because of the economy. Look at the mustang sales last year. They went from over 130K in 2007 to 91K in 2008. And even with their "refresh" I don't see them selling any more cars this year than last. I'm sure the Camaro will probably get over 60K+ units sold the first year but I'm not certain that they will be able to maintain that volume year after year. More and more people seem to look down at the types of cars we love and they are trying to get them off the road. So I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think they will be as common as Mustangs, but for GM's sake I hope that they do.

I'm curious where people are finding deals on challengers. I just went to the dealer with the largest inventory of them near OC, CA(with 16 on the lot) and they were marking all of them up at least $5000. They say their selling them, 8 in the last 2 weeks, but I just cannot see paying 41,000 for an R/T similarly equipped to a 2SS. And thats before taxes, etc. And it's not just this dealer either, all of the dealers in the area have similar markups.

Now, i'm not ruling out the possibility that they have the mark up there so that they can pitch MSRP as a really good deal, but regardless, its somewhat ridiculous.

I told them as I was leaving that I had my camaro on order at MSRP for 32,000(1SS), and they didn't appear to believe me. Oh well. If they can sell 'em with a markup in todays economy, more power to them I suppose.

Camaros will be the same when they get dealer stock orders. There are always gonna be deals, you just have to do the leg work and find them.

I asked 3 local dealers if I could have a Camaro drop shipped and just pay their PDI. All three said "we're not interested". I got fed up. I always liked the Challenger, the looks specifically, but would have probably gotten the Camaro if not for the EPP+ and GM Dealers not honoring my GSU discount. I look at both the Camaro and Challenger as cool cars, and it really came down to price and availability for me so I went with the Challenger.

Man that sucks. All the dealers here are honring EPP+ on the Challenger, they just don't have very many in stock. I got lucky on the Hemi Orange I purchased...it just happened to be a lot car that was ordered 8 months ago and just showed up the day after I made an inquiry.

Congrats. I too was going between the two cars and but that was back when the gas was high, dealers were marking the challenger up $10,000, and the gas guzzler tax was shocking. I am still sticking with the Camaro because of the "sports car" aspect, performance and MPG! Your car is beautiful. I would never tell someone their car is crap. I had to put up with it when I bought a Suzuki motorcycle and a die hard Harley Rider would tease me. I just told him not only would I save thousands on a bike I may or may not lay down in the first two years I would be a better rider for it.

as we say in Bawlmer...have fun Hon!
