I don't know, for me, there is a lot of peace of mind that comes with forged internals. I know a good tune will preserve the engine, but still. The GT500 can make stupid power with just some pulley swaps and retunes.

That logic rarely works, regardless of what car you are talking about. It is still a 'Modded GT', worth less than a stock GT on resale.

Do you really think if you can afford the GT500, you would buy a GT and $10k in mods?

Kinda like the person who buys the v6 camaro with plans to put a twin turbo on it. The path to torque and horsepower is a personal journey

Exactly!!! but the assumption that its stupid because you can just buy the bigger model is ludicrous, that 11000 can be spread over many years of adding mods that maybe the person doesnt have right out the gate, or they just like doing it themselves.

whatever helps you sleep at night knowing for 40k+ you've got a 3900lb car that will get raped by a GT for the same cash.

If your looking to make 700hp+ buy the GT500. For the rest of the world, it makes more sense to buy the GT and modd it. Then you have a faster, cheaper and customized car.

The only way this wouldnt be the case is if you were anal about resale or warranty.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."
