That makes a lot of sense, I hardly ever go into parking garages but when I have, I've always dreaded the exit when really steep

I scrape my cats all the time on speed bumps or driveways. Never really catch the front though

Yup me too.

Just an update on the R1 concepts rotors and HAWK HPS pads.

I went to my first autocross event last weekend (I'm now hooked) and was hard on my brakes. I made seven (7) runs back to back with about 10 minutes in between each run. The course was pretty technical, lots of S-turns and turns that were hard on the brakes. I had zero brake fade and the initial bite was great. For the money I cannot complain at all and would recommend this set up to anyone.

As a side note I only had my R1 concepts and HAWK pads on the front of my car. As fate would have it as soon as I ordered my entire rotor/pad set up I was able to snag a deal for Brembo rear brakes. So if anyone is interested in buying R1 concept rotors and HAWK HPS pads I have the rear set up for the V6. PM me if you're interested.

Here's a video of three of my runs (worst to best):

Yea me too, I scrape on speed bumps. I don't scrape the front either but I guess that's because of how it's angled at the bottom. There's been scenarios where I can clearly see that the angle at the bottom has saved me from completely obliterating the front fascia.

Backtracking a bit...

The ZL1...yes its not as much the 1/4 mile monster as everyone hoped, but you guys have to remember that when all the stars are aligned, it can run pretty damn fast, as there have been two drivers that got her just under 12 seconds. In perfect weather and all that stuff a stock V6 Camaro could maybe squeak out a 13.9 or 14 flat one day, but we all know most of the time V6ers run low to mid 14s while most of the time the ZL1s are in the mid to upper 12s.

The ZL1 is just heavy, hard to launch well, and suffers badly from heat soak. I'm not really defending the ZL1 either, just saying. Can't use that 13.3 as an comparible run.

18" tsw

Looks great! I legitimately regret getting 20" wheels.

This is the reason I dread lowering my car. How much of a drop do you have? 1.25"?

Well aside from the corrosion (which I believe I've mentioned before) if I had my stock LT wheels it'd be a weight difference of like 40 pounds, or 160-240 lbs of rotational mass. That said, I can still spin these wheels out just fine

I have a 1.3" drop in the front and a 1" drop in the rear. Even with all that said, I would do it all over again for sure! It's by far the greatest cosmetic mod I've done to the car. Without a doubt!

Why didn't you go with some lighter 20" wheels? I plan on 20s as my "show" set but they will for sure be lightweight in case I get lazy and don't want to swap them to race

They are "light," long story short I got screwed and the manufacturer wouldn't take them back.

They are something like 32 lbs for the fronts and 36 for the rears.

I think my guy here has a set of the 1 LT wheel and tires lying around. Once I finish the semester I'll see if he'll just do an even trade. And once I wear out those tires it should be time for a new set of brakes and some 275 wheels

Otherwise I'd get some DR-37's in 18"

The 1LT wheels will make a difference. Especially if you have such heavy tires. You'll feel the difference as soon as you put them on.

That is one thing I want. I want some bigger tires in the rear. Badly

Oh I know, this is why I'm ok with no other mods for a while, the change in weight ought to make a big difference. I want a bigger perma grin! Haha
