Not to derail but....

I think that's pretty darn cool they put line lock on a factory car. Kinda helps if you ever blow up your car drag racing. "well, you put the damn line lock on here, what did you think I was going to use the car for?"

No headslap required...or even none of these:

In his/their place, yes, you can get a $10 piece of electronics with certain '15 Mustangs...to daze and amaze your neighbors...

rocket, since you insist on following me around like a puppy seeking approval, how many drag strips have ceased operations in NORTH AMERICA in the last 20 years?

How many new ones have been built?

How many road courses, "country club-style" and otherwise, have been built in that same time?

And, finally [YEAH!], how many parking lot gymkana/auto-X/"kinky" drags/etc. courses spring up EVERY WEEKEND that were unheard of, 20 years ago?

Sooooo '70s...

I think the Euro trash magazine writers are the reason everyone thinks that new pony/muscle cars need to handle like true sports cars or a BMW M3.
Agreed!

Car show, car club, or meeting car guys at work; when you find what each other has and begin to acknowledge motor, mods, etc. The most common gauge is 1/4 time. It just happens that way time and time again. It common practice to say it runs "13s,12s,11s," etc.

You never hear " well at nurburging it ran..." or "at such and such road course it runs..."

I have never seen or heard a conversation go the road course route. Its commonly based on horsepower and 1/4 mile. I meet new faces at work all the time and learn what they have old or new and HP and 1/4's are always in the topic for grasping what they have.

Just the way it is and I beleive the reason the Hellcat is gaining attention.

Let's see, 15 1/2'' brakes, quicker steering ratio, gas-operated shocks, and hours in the wind tunnel?

Are we going to act like this car did not run the figure 8 as fast as the Alpha Romero? Am I the only one who read the article?

Nothing against the hellcat, but this isn't the 70's. Some want more, and some don't. But in todays real world people are buying road course focused cars too.
I'll argue that the Hellcat is more car than the ZL1. More money, more motor, more power, more comfort, more room, and ultimately of greater prestige. A Z/28 is more prestigious than the ZL1. You can trade the handling for driveability and four seats, but remember that the big Dodge came within a foot on a braking test of the ZL1.

Shelby didn't build a track queen for 13', neither did Chevy, but the GT500 has outrun the ZL1 in most cases. Does that make the Shelby a better driver than the ZL1? Depends on who ya ask, right?

Right. The big three, each car is an acquired taste. The Hellcat is undeniably, a car for the road

Sorry if this has been posted already but...

Also a rumor floating around that the hell cat has 2 fobs 1 black and 1 red. The red unleashes everything the car has but if you use it you void your warranty. If that's true then wow...just wow...

Thats true also has a programmable valet mode so you can drop off the car and know they wont have full power.

Yea the 2 fobs is true but using the red one voids your warranty? That would suck...

Uptight some? I said there is a market for road course cars. Are you saying there's not? Or, what's your point? I never said the hellcat wasn't a good car. How is the hellcat undeniably better...seems to be a lot of denial in the reviews thus far. Have you driven one to know so much about it?

-.................................................. .................................................. ...................

So let me get this right....

Line lock is used to amaze my neighbors and not the track.....
NHRA is on its way out...great ,now no more watching it on tv and going to the Gator Nationals anymore.
I guess i'll just go the new road course.....wait......scratch that, it's a new track they built here in the last year and the owner also built one in south Florida- I better tell him to shut it down now, drag racing is on it's way out...... start building road courses

On a serious note road racing has gain popularity over the years, but it is still the minority....
