who decided to make drag strips 1/8 or 1/4? I don't get a thrill out of going 110-120

I guess it boils down to who owns the land and how much land they have to build on. My nearest 1/4 track is 2 hours away. My closest 1/8 is an hour. I want to open a local 1/4 track.

I'd really like to have a track that's capable of doing 1/2 mile events.
