Around 300 pounds isn't that close. The Mustang guys claimed the GTO was obese and there's a 275 pound difference. I agreed we outweighed them by a lot. The argument was always we have a lot more power (for us 05+ guys anyway). But the Challenger can't really come back with the same argument. The Camaro is heavier than I would like. But the Challenger outweighs it by quite a bit. Two passengers. Or one really heavy passenger. Just makes things worse.

but for the challenger being made on a sedan platform it kinda sucks that the camaro is only 226 lbs less. |

What is the weight of the auto Challenger?
And the Camaro is still built on a sedan platform. It was reworked but it's still the Zeta platform. It's got larger wheels and tires and brakes than the Challenger. Those things aren't light. Not to mention it has a 6 speed auto which means it's a slightly larger package. Your arguments are weak and you play dumb to exaggerate your points. I'm buying the manual which is only 135 or so pounds heavier than my current car which is pretty damn amazing considering all the improvements it'll have. We'll have to see the weight of the Challenger manual to compare those. |

btw the weight of the auto challenger is 4140 does it really have larger wheels and breaks, I highly doubt that. I am not saying your wrong as I would love to learn more about these cars but I think the srt8 has big wheels and brakes, Both of them have brembos. |

The last Challenger review I read (which coincidentally said the car weighed 4190 pounds) said they have 245 front 255 rear tires. The Camaro will match the fronts and have 275 rears with either tire option.
The rear brakes are slightly larger in the Camaro. |

And let's not forget that reviews of the Challenger say the same thing. The chassis works but there's no responsiveness. The Camaro has gotten high marks for the responsiveness and the way the chassis and tight handling is able to mask the car's weight.
just sayin man. The Camaro is going to give the Challenger all it can handle and likely more when it comes to performance. I know you like the looks of the Challenger and I can understand. A lot of people do. My brother, a diehard Camaro fan says if the Camaro hadn't come out looking so badass (his opinion) he'd go for the Challenger. I got a chance to get an upclose look at an automatic R/T and it looked cool. But I still say the belt line makes it look way too big and stiff. The 1970 model had a line that kinda swooped on it's way to the rear of the car. The new one has a stiff straight line that bolts straight back and makes it look too big. That's from a visual standpoint and not taking into account dimensions at all. I know it's big, but if I had no clue how much it weighed I'd still think it weighed a lot based solely on the looks. The Charger and 300C do the same thing. On an unrelated note. The roundup of all Challenger models I read in C&D says the autos exhaust note was tuned to be quieter so that you can't hear the change from 8 to 4 cylinders. The manual is going to be quite a bit louder. Sounds like it'd increase the fun factor.... I wonder if it'll be the same for the Camaro. It'd be interesting to hear the reaction of the guys who say the auto is where it's at. Which transmission did you order? |

your talking about the RT which is the tamed beast of the bunch. I ordered a srt8 which is the beast. I am also pretty sure the srt8 breaks are the same if not bigger than the camaros, if you can find an article I would love to see it(honestly). Also the srt8 exhaust was right on the line of not passing the test or w.e you call it to put the car into production. The exhaust is barely just barely restricted. As for tire size, I hate the heavy ass 20s that come with the srt8s, you will be seeing meaty tires on my car because what is the point of having so much power if you cant put it to the ground? |

No, I was talking about the SRT-8. In an unrelated comment I brought up the exhaust note of the RT. I know the difference.
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...cs+page-4.html I assume they put the car on a scale. If it's only 49 pounds heavier than the manufacturers estimate that's not so bad. There are some cars that are supposed to weigh so much and turn out to weigh hundreds of pounds more when put on the scale. The brakes are about the same. 14 inch in front but the rears on the Camaro are a little bigger. Not substantial enough to make a huge difference. Also, if you want an interesting read about your new car, check this out. http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...sam_smith.html |

I like this car but it does not look as good or have the drivetrain quality of the Camaro.
The lifetime warranty is VERY tempting I must admit. I just wonder how good Dodge would treat you 10,20,30+ years. I like the Torred color. The thing about Crysler products. I have never really cared for them in the past. I just don't trust the quality from the Kcar era. |
