i dunno. do you guys really ban people here for speaking their minds? if so, then i suspect i won't last much longer, as i tend to say what i think when i think it. in the instance of bbs's, typing.....same thing really, as what you see me type here would be the very same things i'd say to people in the same room as me. also, if you think i'm only trolling, then you must've missed where i said how much i like the new camaro overall. there's just a couple little things bout them i don't like, and other than the interior, it's actually the first good looking camaro produced since the 69. |

For me the ring times mean nothing coming from GM, Ford or whomever. It's pretty much become a marketing tool anyhow.

His being banned speaks MORE to what he shared, and how, and therefore how valued he was, here, I guess... I'm not a Mod, so I can't speak to the specifics, but quoting him won't get you much, here... SVT-Land? Perhaps he walks on water, over yonder...it would seem he would be a prize, to them...
Like Gen-5 Camaros? Then your vision and tastes are less in dispute...it's just your rhetoric that suffers, perhaps... |

what's important, is how they drive on the street, in the traffic conditions you're going to see as the owner. i drive mine mostly to and from work. it will never see a mall parking lot if i can help it. i take it on longer drives once in awhile. i've taken it to mcguire afb a few times, and it makes that drive much more enjoyable. but the ring times......they're bragging rights. i can see it now......the loser of the drag race saying "yea!! but mine would be faster at nurburgring!!" |

The expectation is that you are a member here with some appreciation for the Camaro... If you are ONLY here to defend another car/brand and can't have a respectful debate then you won't last long... This is a camaro forum and it will always be moderated from that perspective. Having said that, all members, fanboys included, must follow the site rules when posting here. FWIW.

i like pretty much ANYTHING v-8 powered and fast. my preference is fords. it always has been. second to me has always been chevys. camaros, the early/mid 60's novas. the 70's camaros rated about as much as the 70's mustangs.....they sucked. at least ford fixed that mistake in 79, with the fox mustangs....those were decent handling, and faster than their chevy counterparts. even though chevy fixed the performance problem with the 94(or was it 93?) and up camaro, they STILL and a god awful ugly car. but then so was the 94 to 2004 mustang. the 2005 mustang got us of the ford side back into a truly good looking car, and chevy waited till 2010. with the performance of these cars, from the base v-8 models, right up to the zl1 vs gt500, it will be a drivers race. the only one that's gone un-addressed, is the boss302, but i've read of the 1le, which should give you guys something directly comparable to that. the dodge camp really only has the challenger in my eyes, as that aberration called a charger has two too many doors. and of course i have appreciation for the camaro. us ford guys need something to beat, right?

as i said, my original post was to reply to the guy that thought that ford didn't produce the shelby themselves. i was in a kind of sarcastic mood when i put it up there, so i tossed out a question to him, concerning something sort of related but not really. :seesaw: |

FYI - the S197 style can handle a 335 without issue. I ran 315's on a 10.5 inch rim with zero issue. Wherever some of you heard that the max size a GT500 can hold is a 285 is beyond me.
Looking forward to seeing some decent times out of the 13' GT500. Even if they don't beat the ZL1, I'll still love both cars at the end of the day. GT500 + ZL1 = win! Sent via morse code through a fax machine.

Factory installations have different considerations than sheer space. What those considerations might be, specifically...I don't know. You can fit larger than a 305 on the ZL1, in fact I think someone at some point said it was tried....but in the end they stuck with the 305.
I think Ford is in the same boat with their 285s...for whatever reason it may be...285 seems to be the widest tire they're willing to fit from the factory... |

that's fine. i'm not your average intardnet tough guy. whatever i say(type) here, i'd say to any ones face. i say what i think. wanna know what i don't like about the new camaros? the tail lights. to me they look like the designers forgot them, then doing a walk around, they went "oh s$%t!", and took something off the shelf, and tossed them back there. for some reason, those lights make me think of a corvette. i can't stand the dash. it looks stupid. those big rectangles containing the gauges have no place inside of an econobox, much less a camaro. it's a shame too, as my friends 2010's are comfortable, and otherwise pretty nice inside. i have trouble seeing out of them though. other than that, i like em. still wouldn't buy one, unless they discontinued the mustang.....but i do like em. |
