Right here in the instructions:

Leading up to the event:
  • Each DRIVER should register at www.camarocross.com. One car, two drivers = two registrations. You may register for different sessions or the same session as we will have multiple heats per session. If you have more than 2 drivers, please attempt to register in additional sessions so the car is only used twice per session.
  • Come ready to stay for the entire session you register for. We will run multiple heats but you must stay to be available as a corner worker.
  • NO drivers under 18. Drivers must have have a valid driver’s license and be a paying driver at CamaroFest.
  • Watch the course video and review the map. There will be no course walk at the event so watching the video and studying the map will give you an edge over the competition.
  • Limited spaces may be allowed for drivers who did not pre-register for a session on a first-come, first-served basis. You must run through tech and attend the drivers' meeting. After the drivers' meeting, we will determine how much room is available for unregistered participants.

If Safety is the #1 priority, then a course walk is a SAFETY item. Plain and simple.

Hmm...let's look into that. To be honest, I forget how we handled it last time. The walkthrough does take a while to do.....valuable on-track time.

Yes, walks can take some time, but if our local and other regional SCCA's can have a day of autocross with 120 cars and first car is off at 9:30 and done at 4:30 and we have 2 times to walk the track, it can be done at Beech Bend. Or say the USCA events with 90 cars and 2 walks, 10 runs per car and done at 4, it should be done.

We'll look into it. I don't think it's a make or break situation...but we want to do what's right.

Also... is there going to be more than the usual cones (like at the last fest) or will it be the fewer cones like the fest in Houston?
faSSteddie
We use chalk lines and lots of cones to make the course easier to navigate for first time drivers. Expect quite a few cones.

Depending on the number of drivers, there may or may not be a course walk. If there is no course walk, there will be video of the course the night before. A low speed drive through and a sort of at speed drive through. The low speed will be narrated.

Every course is different so cone counts could be all over the place. I think a walk will solve issues of delays when folks are both working the course, and driving the course.
Pete care to chime in on this safety issue?
We do our best to balance track time with course walk, but we do design the course to keep drivers away from the walls.

The difference is in the experience of the group. Novices take longer to do everything ALL DAY LONG. We have drivers that will limit us to one car on course. We have drivers that create cone clean ups that take 5 minutes. Five minutes is 10 runs lost for every really bad run. They add up fast.

The CamaroCross TEAM is made up of people that are very active in the sport and understand all aspects of it. A CamaroCross is NOT an SCCA or ProTouring or OPTIMA event. CamaroCross is unique. This isn't our first FEST rodeo.

This is an American Muscle Car event where as many or more people participate in autocross than drag racing. That doesn't happen at a Mustang event and is because we encourage first timers to come and join us. For those with years of experience, this event is a great place to come and pass on your knowledge to those new to it. It isn't semi-pro like the OPTIMA or Pro-Touring. The rules are not as demanding as SCCA. CamaroCross is different. It is primarily a social event with car activities wrapped around it. The friends you make, getting started on building your driving skills, starting to autocross are the wins you take home.
