I'm kind of curious- does this game work to balance itself out with level, because I notice some people get weapons quicker than others, etc.

yeah it's suppose to be even at the same level. It mostly has to do with luck.

 I just got lucky getting pupils .. posted on a few other forums, myspace friends... and kept fighting each pupil that was made each day... been a busy bee

I believe you only get xp from an ip that hasn't signed up yet. so when I created dope chops here from work, I became milk's pupil. If I sign up under someone elses toon, they won't get the xp from me levelling that toon.

Correct. unless he signs up from another computer/ip. Otherwise he can make a pupil of yours, but you won't get xp if he levels it.
