OP, you just went to a bad Popeye's! Otherwise, stick with the chicken. Their sides are some of the best out there and original! Dirty rice is awesome!

Zaxby's is some really goooooooooooooooooood chicken. Just wish they had it here in Maryland. Was driving back to Maryland from Florida last year, told my wife we had to stop and get Zaxby's on the way home, she had never heard of the place. It is now her favorite chicken restaurant too. Love that Zax sauce and really love the Kickin' Chicken Sandwich. Ate at Zaxby's a lot when I was stationed in Georgia.

I used to really enjoy KFC... and the things they offer look pretty good. However, after THREE experiences, at different KFCs, in which I (and others of my ethnicity) was treated like crap (while other ethnicities were taken care of as expected), I will never go to another. The message was loud and clear.

I once went to a KFC when I lived in Georgia, went in placed my order and the cashier looked at me and said "We're out of chicken", it was around noon or so. I then asked her why they were even open and she responded "To get paid" I laughed, then went somewhere else for lunch.

You had fish at a chicken place and writing a review on them.

Popeye's is easily my 1st choice for fried chicken.

But then I've never had the fish there.

Popeyes has gone down over the years, but it is still 100X's better than KFC to me here in south Louisiana. I would never order anything other than their chicken, and the red beans are the best. I give Raising Canes a higher rating, and the dip is just a variation of what we have used for dipping boiled crawfish here for years.

As stated previously, the same places that treated folks different were the same ones that told me twice at 12:30 weekday and 5pm weekend, they were out of chicken! I said, OUT?, "yup, might try back in a few hours.."!!
I think it was just the laziest employees in the world. whatever, been years and won't ever go back.

I do have a new Zaxby's in my town. Might give them a try!

Tinsley's Chicken was the best out there for a long time... Hartz used to be great, their gizzards rock! Popeye's is about the only place left that makes decent fast food chicken anymore other than Culver's, if you can find one that still makes fried chicken.

Then there was Pioneer Chicken in Hawaii... it was THE chicken place!

No Popeye's around me....but how did Popeye get associated with fried chicken anyhow?....

Popeye's Spinach brand I could understand...but I never recall him eating fried chicken.

Fried chicken is out of my diet anyway....Pollo Loco, charbroiled chicken, is most popular here it seems...

It was supposedly named after Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle of the French Connection film.

Correct!

Alvin C. Copeland Sr., opens “Chicken on the Run” in the New Orleans suburb of Arabi, serving traditional Southern-fried chicken.

After several months of lackluster performance, he reopens the restaurant as “Popeyes” (after Popeye Doyle of The French Connection). This time he sells spicy, New Orleans-style chicken.
