Since then, it hasn't just been them. The Colorado/Canyon Duramaxes were subjected to increased scrutiny before the EPA gave them a clean bill of health.

Shame on any manufacturers that fudge numbers. Such as my wife's 2015 Chevy Cruze 1.8 turbo that I just took on road trip for 12 total hours and the best mpg I could get was 31.4 with 91+ octane on all highway driving. I took her car to get better mpg than my camaro. The same road trip in my camaro V6, I'd get 28 and maybe 29. So much for the Eco turbo engine of chevy. I brought it to the dealers attention and they just said its driving habits. True but sir, I drove highway with cruise control on and going 70 mph the best was 31.4 mpg. The average was 30.1 mpg in a cruise. My 2005 cavalier gets 34mpg. Really, maybe chevy needs a multi billion dollar lawsuit to match VW?

My 2010 Camaro V6 was rated 28mpg highway and I regularly got 30-31. My 2012 Camaro is rated 27hwy and it gets 27-28. I have noticed though my mileage has dropped this winter about 3 mpg from what it was in the summer. Maybe more ethanol in their winter blend gas has something to do with it... Edit: I just remembered while my Camaro was getting it's top replaced we had a Cruze Eco loaner car and just driving it around town it got over 32mpg.

And to do with that, pretty much everybody I know who owns a TDI is very upset and pretty much lose their trust in Volkswagen. Might as well NOT eat their sausages (yes, Volkswagen does sell sausages)!

I did not mean to jack the thread. Back to trashing on VW, because I own all Chevrolets now. Last edited by SIM GhostrdrZ; 02-26-2016 at 06:43 PM. |

If you're light on the throttle and drive like a grandma, it's completely possible to exceed the EPA estimate. My friend regularly gets the EPA estimate in her Cruze LT/RS. If you drive the car like you would a Camaro, or by that matter any naturally aspirated car, the FE is going to vary wildly. It's why the EcoBoost F-150s were under scrutiny too, people were promised V8 power with V6 fuel economy but didn't get the memo they couldn't drive their new EcoBoosts like they did their old Triton V8s. Given what you've said, Cruze doesn't need to run premium so you're really just wasting money there, and it could in fact affect your FE. Also, while 70 is the normal speed limit, it's not exactly the best speed to cruise at if you're trying to maximize fuel economy.

VW isn't the only one.
Mitsubishi says it has cheated on mileage tests for 25 years http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/compa...=ansmsnmoney11
