Dart....maybe maybe not, but I can't say that the 200 is at all garbage. Maybe the 200 before this gen. I guess that's just my opinion.

Ending production of the 200 and the Dart will seriously mess up FCA's CAFE numbers true? In 2015 they sold 177,000 200's and 87,000 Darts. Maybe those models are unprofitable? That can be the only explanation.

Couple reports saying that FCA may end up getting other automakers to produce a compact/midsize sedan for them. Kinda like what GM does with Nissan and the City Express.

Interesting article on Autoblog about the possible reasoning behind killing off the 200 & Dart

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/28/d...lowup-opinion/

Cliffs notes version is that FCA can likely make more money by selling more Jeeps. That, in turn, could make them more attractive to another automaker with whom to merge with at a later date.

I don't quite believe thats how it would all pan out ... but it does fit with Sergio's general train of thought.

I hope this debuts as a mid-engine Cadillac instead of calling it a mid-engine Corvette. Let the Corvette continue to focus on performance and keep cost down. Let the mid-engine Cadillac be about luxury, technology, with performance second - a drivers car not a track weapon. I would love to see what Cadillac could engineer in a lightweight, mid-engine configuration given the magic they've done with the V model sedans. A 911 turbo, R8, Vanquish, competitor. Maybe later add a V16 and call it a "V" model.

Like this but more recent design language not hard core "arts and science" angles. I don't ask for much...

Cadillac needs to figure out how to sell the ATS and CTS, plus add some more CUVs before they even think about a mid engine super car.

Luxury sedans are struggling period as CUVs are hot right now. Cadillac already has something planned between the XT5 and Escalade. No reason a halo car can't be brought to market. Audi began producing the R8 back when total brand sales were even less than Cadillac in the U.S. MB has the AMG GT, Audi has the R8, Acura has the NSX, Lexus had the LFA, Cadillac needs something other than the Escalade to represent the brand

Can't wait to see what the mid engined Corvette looks like. They will still have the front engined Corvette around as well, or that's the plan at least right?
