it wasn't 4th down to begin with . they ran it for like 3 times for about 3 yards and only took about 8 seconds off the clock. seattle would have gotten it back even if they made it, which means they would have only needed a FG to go back in the lead. to me you at least try.

That is just smart game management.

Get the Seahags to burn their timeouts, run the clock down and kick a short FG.

He didn't miss once from that range all year and is 30 of 31 in his career from 20 to 29 yds.

You are right, it wasn't the same play, but it would have negated pacmans penalty. meaning it would have been a 50yd fg attempt instead of a 35.

and don't act like the refs make the right call all the time.
This ENTIRE season the officiating has been by far the worst I've ever seen. But Bengals...WOW...they HANDED the game to the Steelers...."here...take 30 more yards"....chip shot FG

yes, it was 4th down. you just said they ran it 3 times for 3 yards each. that's 9 yards. that makes it 4th down and 1. they did that to run the clock out and make seattle use their timeouts. I'm sure they would have much rather got the first down, but seattle stopped them. good on them. but on 4th down, no timeouts for either team, on the 9yd line and around 20 something seconds? you go for the chip shot fg to win the game. but that's why they kick the ball, because it's not guaranteed he will make it, obviously.

Recap:

- Texans are not a good team in a terrible division. It showed.
- The Bengals are, well, the Bengals. The Steelers are a screwed team at this point though.
- Vikings got a gift of a pass int call, then a nice play by their TE. Did everything right game management wise to close game. Missed a chip shot FG. Brutal weather game, hats off to both teams playing in that crap.
- I don't even have a reaction on the Green Bay-Washington game. WTF happened?

Hoping for better play next week, games really were low quality (except Vikings/Seahawks) this weekend.

I don't know. I rather enjoyed all games, minus the Texans game. Low scoring defensive games are good, imo.

And history was made. First time ever that all home teams lost in wildcard round.

The percentages say it was the correct call.

The execution on the FG was bad.

I think Walsh and the holder felt rushed after the near block on FG#3 by Sherman.

I heard that stat with the following added....they believed it was the first time ever that all home teams won in a 4 game round (wild card & next round). I could have misunderstood.

I actually think this had more of an impact on the miss than the laces facing the kicker. Sherman almost had it on the previous field goal, and I'm sure Walsh had that in his mind.

Lastly...I just want to say that no matter what happens this year...I'm so glad the Seahawks have a good franchise QB. The fact that he can pull a rabbit out of his hat at any time just thrills me to no end.

Maybe Jerry is looking for someone to party with in Las Vegas. Jones had wanted to draft Manziel but was talked out of it, read this article and see why being talked out of drafting him payed off in a bigger way for Dallas.
