Is there any way to turn it off...is it for trailering? I'd love to know more.

It just seems to me that unless this happens only under certain and rare conditions that it would only equal more wear and tear on the engine/transmission and equate to worse fuel mileage.
Kicks in when you are coasting down a hill, even when very little braking is required to keep at 30mph. Just a plain awful implementation of a feature, and you can not turn it off.

This article says there is a way to turn it off. Have to hold the button down for 3 sec or something.

my buddy who works with HP tuners has finally got the ability to tune the 2015 colorados. Waiting for him to work with me on getting this thing to its full capabilities.

Wow! From continuing to read this thread, I would say my buddy's instincts to avoid a first year model and get a 15 toyota instead were correct. I sure hope they get these problems corrected soon.

It's not just the Colorado. Silverados have the same issue. It's just the Eco tune GM is putting on them these days. It looks like I'm going to get a Trifecta tune to fix it for good.

He does remote tuning too so if you wanted one of his tunes after we go to town on my PCM, he'll be glad to send you a remote tuner.

Bummer that really stinks. Same with the HD trucks?

Got 5300 miles on it now, never once has it changed. And driving habits is a bs excuse. Yesterday I slowed down, turned into a parking lot at 5 mph and as soon as I gently touched the throttle the tranny gave a huge clunk while it dropped a few gears. WTF? Even after the new tune it is still reluctant to downshift on hills.
I'm getting tired of the looks I get from pedestrians when the hill speed control kicks in and it revs to 4 grand down a hill.

I've had 5 new vehicles since 2010 and none of them had issues. Hell, none of the cars I've owned ever since the 60's has ever not done exactly what you think it should, this thing is worse than a Turbo 350 with a vacuum mod valve for deciding what in the hell it wants to do.

Subjective or not, i've got a $40,000 vehicle that annoys me every time I drive it.

Now I think I'm in for a hell of a grind. raise a case with GM, do days worth of legwork until they decide to let me out of this lease. I can repeat all of these issues at will and I bet nothing they do will fix it.
They were at 8,500 and they also said that the rough shifts didn't go anywhere. This was mainly delayed shifts.

Hrrmm...the article states:

This helps reduce brake temperatures and wear on the braking system, saves fuel, and provides enhanced vehicle control.
I can agree with all of that except for perhaps the "saves fuel" part. Seems to me if the engine is revving higher to hold a lower gear, it will use more fuel.

But then again, I have also read that modern engines while coasting, will actually shut off fuel completely and uses the engine/transmission momentum to keep the engine running, which was quite a surprise to me. So if that is the case here, then I guess I can believe it.

Hmmmm so it's a feature..

Wonder if this shift stabilization feature can be turned off as simply as DOD is?

Whelp, I floored it for the first time on sunday, full throttle. The thing revved up to 7 grand and burped on the rev limiter for a half second before it shifted. The shift was lazy as hell too. This was in D.

It can be slightly counter-intuitive, because it does use more fuel while in a lower gear. However, you'll be accelerating quicker which means you won't be using the extra fuel for as long as you would by up-shifting. The end result being less fuel overall being used.
