I like the Hellcat and think it's an awesome car but I do wonder what does it bring to the table different from the 15 Challenger SRT 392 except that it has a supercharged 707 hp engine (which obviously will make it faster), hood, front fascia, Hellcat emblem?

I've read that everything else is the same (i.e. options, handling, tranny, rear end, etc.). I've searched and that's all I could find. Am I wrong?

I don't really understand, if your going to spend the research/development $$ and with a "special" offering you get leeway on stuff, why can't we have a 600 hp naturally aspirated car?

No offense to anyone, just a personal preference, but I want a 500 hp+ non blown engine.

All the development dollars went into one place.

That pic is hilarious!!!!

Today, while out and about, I stopped by a Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge dealer and they were all commenting on the Z/28. Several of the service dept. and sales people commented on how they thought the Z/28 was a complete package and made the comparison to the Hellcat. So there's no misunderstanding, they made that comparison, not me. Overall, I think they were impressed with it. Maybe its because they were looking at one, some for the first time in person.

Ironically, they spoke of the Hellcat's power negatively stating that its really hard to put all of it down on the ground without loosing control of the car. Quote: " The power is great but the rest of the car is under engineered to control it." One salesman commented on a customer who lost control of his brand new Hellcat when pulling out of the dealership after purchase. Shockingly, all said they would rather have the Z/28 over it because of that (once again, they were looking at a Z/28). They still spoke highly of the Hellcat but none said that that would purchase one if given the chance.

A complete package, you have got to be kidding me. No entertainment system, no navigation, optional ac, harsh ride, race tires for the street that will pick up road debris and kill your quarter panel's paint, under powered in the world of 580-707 hp street cars, weak axles, a motor that has a history of dropping valves for no reason. But hey it will go around a corner fast. IMO the ZL1 is a much closer to a complete package than the Z/28 could ever hope to be.

Lets remember the facts that matter on the street, the Hellcat will destroy the Z/28 in all the following: 0-60, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1-mile, roll race, any street race, top end, and driver comfort. A Hellcat puts down 670-rwhp while the Z/28 has what 450? The problem for the Z/28 is yes it's an overpriced track star but it's not very impressive in anything else. Bottom line presently there is no other car that will draw deserving attention like the Hellcat.

No dream; happened as stated. Actually, this was the second time it's happened, at a different Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler dealership. The first dealer had a red Hellcat sitting on the showroom floor.

You forgot a few...1/16, 3/8, 5/8, 3/4, 32/33, 100 yards, 200 meters...

How dare anyone ever say anything is better than the hellcat!

As referenced in my comments above, I would dare say there are some Dodge dealer employees that would disagree with you.

BTW, everything you wrote is concerning horsepower and straight line acceleration. Does the car do anything else well? I get it, in a drag race, that's important; but what about overall performance, balance, stopping, handling, and overall feel which are very important factors for multi-dimensional performance driving. This is what was being referred to when talking about a complete package. Don't get it twisted.

Entertainment systems, navigation? Well if those are the most important things to the potential purchaser, yes the ZL1 is a better choice. Or better yet, if those same things are paramount, a luxury car would be best.

Newmoon,

You seem to have researched it pretty well. Care to provide some clarity to this?

The differences on the Hellcat from the SRT 392 are the front bumper, hood, rear spoiler, engine (of course), transmission (8-speed is the 8HP90 vs. the 8HP70 in the SRT 392), Front and rear sway bars (F 34mm R22mm vs F 32mm R19mm for the SRT 392), steering (Hydrolic vs electronic for the SRT 392) and instrument cluster (color is red and has a 200MPH speedo). Everything else is exactly the same.

Oh really!?

Hellcat Challenger is sitting right there like it is invisibly. Show me when the Hellcat twins draws a crowd like this that isn't staged (Mopar of FCA event).
