I don't think I've even seen a Chevette in person. Though I have heard many stories about them as driving school cars and how horrible they were.

My dad had one. It was a trooper but it was a pretty godawful car.

I did drivers education in a Chevette (1980). I'll never forget turning out of the parking lot and immediately having to accelerate up a steep hill with three people in the car. It could barely get rolling. Pitiful

The one that stuck with me is the instructor was with a student on the highway and the hood latch let go and the hood came flying open. Slightly alarming.

Seems like the 6.2 has been around in some form or another since 2010, but has never made it to the HD's.

I wonder why that is.
In order for DEF to no longer be needed, one of 3 things needs to happen:

1) substantially back off on power/torque output to reduce NOx emissions to a point where after treatment is no longer needed

2) substantially back off on NOx emissions regulations so that after treatment is no longer needed

3) a major technological breakthrough where normal catalytic converters can remove NOx, at a cost less than that of DEF

#1 isn't going to happen, because nobody would want a huge diesel truck with the output of a 4 cylinder car. And #2 isn't going to happen because its extremely hard to argue that we should let exhaust emissions kill and hospitalize more people (among other environmental effects). The third one might happen, at some point. But I haven't heard of anyone coming close to achieving something like that yet for the automotive industry.

Well my previous car was a 73 Volkswagen Beetle and every time it got damp out it wouldnt start. The dealers solution was you need to take out the plugs and dry them in the oven then reinstall them.... I also hated that first gear was so low you had to shift before you could cross an intersection.
Never had any issues with the Çhevettes not starting even down to 18-20 below zero.
I guess those driver ed cars were automatics.
I really don't think they were any worse than other minicars of the same era. At least mine never rusted out to where you could see the ground through the floorboards like my father in laws 76 corolla did.

1.17 million Buicks sold last year. Second year in a row over 1 million units.

That's a lot of new product. Curious what the one on the far right is.
