It would be great. Guess we will have to wait and see. The Hellcat is the last hurrah for the Challenger line before its redo.

As a die hard Mopar guy and owner of one them old 09 SRT8 battleships that (yes) runs quarter mile, standing mile, and (gasp) road course. Much of what has been said is somewhat accurate, except that the Challengers generally overachieved what would be expected from a 4400lb pig, but OTOH, the Camaros from what I have seen have somewhat underperformed in stock trim. From every specification, they should just handily whip the Dodge in every way, but at the track, they're pretty much neck and neck. Also, don't judge all the Mopar guys as being an angry lot based of the Challenger forums, a tiny handful of people did everything in their power to destroy that community over the years, and it's a really sad situation. I've been very active in the Challenger community for many years and have known most of the players involved in that carnage and it's one of the most baffling things I've ever witnessed. Here's a few facts: 1. Camaro and Mustang will always outsell the Challenger. I am not surprised at the margin, I'm actually surprised that the Dodge has done as well as it has. Mother Mopar left the game for over 30 years! As such we have a disproportionate number of old farts like me and not a lot of youngsters by comparison. As such every convert is very hard won and for a huge number of Challenger owners, it is their very first Chrysler product ever. 2. GM and Chrysler fans truly owe Ford a huge debt of gratitude for keeping the segment alive when everyone wanted it dead. What they have squeezed out of that platform is truly amazing. Along the same lines, what Chrysler has squeezed out of the LX sedan platform is also amazing. Chevy had a huge advantage of starting with a modern platform to build from. Kudo's to GM for having Holden keep the true spirit of the American muscle car alive even when we were too blind and stupid to save it ourselves! 3. It's mid 2014 and American enthusiasts are debating whether this factory produced muscle car will really run 10's or that one really has 700hp, or the other one can really make a real attempt with staying with a bunch of very capable euroboxes at the road course. Add that the Muscle car segment is the most brand loyal of all segment and we have a great, competitive segment that just keeps getting bigger and better with all three badges playing, and much like any family, we will all be there together when they do come to try and take our toys away!!!! You guys over here have had a great board for a long time. Always a pleasure to stop in and say hello!

Using linear interpolation, it would need 6.24 HP/lb so to move 4400 lbs equals 705 rwhp! Is the 707 rating rear wheel? Maybe its additional weight its helping it hook better. ![]() I've post links to videos with time slips of the ZL1's making the runs listed above in recent post. Post #908, 921, 931 Quote:
Yes. It will be interesting to see how the press does.

No way. The MPH tells the tale. Some of those trap nearly 10mph more. Thats huge! Id expect to see the HellCat in the low 600rwhp range. Idk what to say about those cars. The mph is there the et isnt. Guess they're having a hard time getting out of the hole? No reason a 800+rwhp 5th Gen shouldn't be a 9sec car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Regarding sales figures. The Challenger was selling more cars the current year than the previous year. Pretty good stat and testimony IMO to the looks and performance of an 8 year old car. It would have sold more in 2015 than 2014 without ANY changes whatsoever. |

The 707 is at the flywheel. My 09 is 650ish at the wheels and traps at 11.2 @ 130 the holeshot, especially with the M6 is really tough to get right. I'm guessing my weight at about 4500. Pretty sure I could get a 10.9x with a bit more practice.

Chevy is producing cars with handling in mind...ZL1 (marketed with 'ring times so you can't say it's their drag car), Z/28, 1LE. Dodge and Ford seem to be focused on straight line performance...Dodge maybe more so than Ford now. Neither is right or wrong, it's all a matter of personal preference.

I have a 650 whp ZL1 auto that runs 10.7 all day in the Florida heat and has run a best of 10.625@130.91 mph. with 18" DRs so maybe those tuner cars aren't running the best. Post #2605 on the fast list for time slip. 60' of 1.560. Im not too worried about running into a Hellcat. That being said I think its pretty wonderful that we are getting the cars we are, be it Mustang, Camaro or Dodge. This is truly the golden age of American/Canadian muscle!! Cant wait to see a 200 lb lighter 2017 ZL1 with an LT4 in it!

Extremely impressive for something strait off the show room floor. Not many American cars can do that. |

![]() I'm new to this level of power and speed and am trying to understand how much power it will take to move a car to 10.8 sec that is 380 lb heavier than a ZL1 on 275 tires. Referencing against name tuners is a good place to start I just got my ZL1 a few months ago and, if everything stays good in the world, plan on looking into the Lingenfelter LPE700 next spring. A 623 rwhp tuner car with 24 month/24,000 mile warranty that does 10.935 @ 133.66 MPH is no "turd" in my book. At the price I bought new, I'd be into it ~$63k!

They made 1826 1LE's in 2013. Not many people knew they could get one. Sales will be at least double for 2014 when they release the numbers.
