Anybody have to park their C7 on the streets?
I live in an apartment complex that only allows 1 car parking spot. That spot is reserved for my wife since I don't want her to park on the streets after she comes home from work and walk to our apartment (dangerous). That leaves me with having to park my newly anticipated C7 on the streets, 24/7 (yes my work also has an outdoor parking lot).
So that leaves me with the question for you guys, has anybody had to do this on a nice car? What do you do? I'm thinking getting a car cover but a lot of people saying taking the car cover on and off every day will scratch the paint. |

I think I would worry about buying a house first and getting out of the dangerous apartment before I would worry about buying a C7.

If you can't buy a house, rent a house or townhouse, with a 2-car garage.

Thanks for the life lesson that I didn't ask for. I actually do own a house in the suburbs. We rent a small apartment in the city to shorten our commute. If you're not going to provide any helpful solution, please get off my thread. |

Nothing you can really do with parking in the street. There is a risk to it but it's not that different from parking in a parking deck or at a restaurant.
I have a car cover, the cover is works well and I don't think it will scratch the paint. Good luck! |

Your best solution is to rent another Parking Space inside the Complex.
Check with the Rental Office to see if there are any empty spaces that go with currently unrented units or check to see if there are unoccupied Spaces owned by older folks without Cars. Sublet the Space from them if you can. |

Can you get out of your lease and rent a different apartment that offers garages? One of my friends rents 3 at his apt for all his cars. I wouldn't leave my baby sitting in the street, that's asking for trouble no matter how nice the area. kids playing around it, bad drivers may side swipe it, dickheads messing with it, not to mention leaving it out in the weather conditions. As for the cover I can guarantee if i was driving the car daily there's no way in hell I would spend the time to cover/uncover it everyday(if this is your only option maybe just cover for bad weather).
Since you do have a house you could leave it there and get a cheap ass daily driver for when your at your apt. sorry if this wasn't helpful :/

Parking is limited and really a commodity in the city, I'll check to see if any neighbors has open spots but I'd definitely have to knock on their doors. I have considered getting a cheaper car but that doesn't make sense to me. I buy a car to drive it not to keep it a garage queen. Thanks for the suggestions

I'd take a half day and go walking around the area- warehouses, other lots even garage- homes or condos that look like an older person or college kids lives at....you'll be surprised at people that might let you park there. When I was renting a place I didn't want my police car outside- the owner of the warehouse let me park at the warehouse m-f except holidays......I offered to detail his car every month- prob cost me 20.00 in materials and 4 hours work........just an idea.....non used building can even be an option....tell them that by you going in and out - homeless folks etc wont be coming in and out, and such......just an ide that worked for me

Unless the car is "absolutely" clean a cover will scratch it.

I wouldn't leave it out parked on the street. . . This is what happened to my Camry. . . Neighbor decided to back out without looking. . .If you leave it out, the odds of it getting damaged are increased dramatically.

Ya have to just love it when people ask a question, then get all bent out of shape when someone gives them an answer they don't like.

I live in an apartment complex, we park the volt and the Vette next to each other, I keep the Vette covered even though the spaces are covered. We have a couple of people here that don't have cars. The reason I don't own a house is because I am the Apartment resident Manager. Talk to your Manager and the residents maybe there is an open space.
