Wouldn't have bought a car if I didn't want the Camaro, as its my garage queen

Test drove a Challenger, a Mustang, and a Camaro all on the same day, and I went in with them numbered 1, 2, and 3 respectively as far as favorites.

After driving them, it became 3, 2, and Challenger wasn't even on the menu anymore. Loving my SS.

Camaro was the only car I wanted and back in early 2009 was one of the best days ever when I went to the dealership to order a brand new SS Camaro, I wish I could relive that day over and over.

Agree 100%. Its a special feeling driving a car off of the lot(especially if its the your first car that YOU bought). Then you get it home and realize that you don't want to get out of the car

almost pulled the trigger on a 13' Genesis Coupe turbo. Easy to get over 500WHP and MUCH lighter than a Camaro.

I was looking to trade my 2009 Corvette coupe for a Corvette ZO6 until I saw the SLP Camaro. I am happy with the decision.

I did not wish to buy a new car. But asked for a raise or a demo from work. I loved my old 1996 Fleetwood and told them the only car I would consider was a Camaro Convertible. I had to put in a few grand to make it happen.

I very briefly looked at the SRT8 Challenger, and even thought of maybe a Fiat 500 Abarth. Sat in both at an auto show and decided to be patient for once in my life and find the Boss 302 I wanted at the right price. I had to wait out the ADM most were getting early on before I got mine. The Camaro never crossed my mind as I had sat in one shortly after they came out and found the lack of visibility and gauges on the console not to my liking.

Challenger R/T. Really wanted the SRT8 but back then they were way too expensive. The 5.0 didn't exist in 2008 either.

I'm also surprised at the range of cars people were considering.

Drove my nephew's '00 325i while I waited for my 1LE to be built (he was in S. Korea). I was impressed how a 13 year old car with over 150k miles on the odo was free of squeaks and rattles and how tight it drove. Briefly considered canceling my order to pick up a 335i or a used M3. Absolutely happy I stuck with the Camaro.

This is my first post in the forums, so sorry mods if this isn't in the right section.

My question is this: was there a car(s) that you almost bought instead of your Camaro?

For me, I was looking for 2 things: a fast, good looking car, and a car that was affordable(I'm fresh out of college, with, well... some debt), meaning it was going to be a v6.

I did my research, and it seemed that the right choice was a mustang. I also found a couple deals on a charger, so that was in the running as well.

As for the camaro, I never really considered it, simply because they just seemed to expensive.

Anyways, I test drove a charger, and wasn't really blown away by it. It just didn't feel sporty enough, and for the money, it didnt seem like you were getting alot of car.

I test drove a mustang a few days later, and really liked it. I told the dealer to hold onto it, let me sleep on it, and I would contact him in a couple days.

Fast forward 2 days later, and my little brother(he's 14) and I were hanging out after I got off work. He somehow talked me into wanting to test drive a camaro, so off we went to my local chevy dealership. We got there, hopped in a Camaro, and off we went.

WOW. I was blown away by the car. You really can't appreciate it until you drive it. From everything I've read about, this car was supposed to be a nightmare to drive from the cabin setup and the blind spots. It wasn't supposed to be as fast as the mustang. From my experience, it didn't feel like I was driving just another car(which the mustang and charger did). It felt like I was sitting in a spaceship or something(which I loved). Performance wise, it felt just as good, if not better than the pony. Definitely more of a 'pin you to the seat' feel.

Needless to say, we got back to the dealership, and I basically told them if they could get me the right price, i'd buy it that night. The dealership came through, gave me a great price on the car, and the rest is history!

What about you guys?
Jchuba03,

Welcome to the forum! Great to have you here and awesome to hear how impressed you were by the Camaro. Continue to enjoy!

Happy driving ,

William R.

I almost tried to get a 2013 Mustang GT or a used 2011 Challenger R/T, but none of the dealers took me serious enough to let me test drive.

The Chevy sales guy got in the passenger seat, let me take it around the block, and I got my car a week later.

1st time GM buyer and they're off to a great start in terms of keeping me as a customer.
