Here is the 2014 Corvette Stingray ordering guide.

Nice to have the guide, but pricing sure would be handy to have also.

What does the A1 mean for the 2.56 rear axle ratio? I know the A means available. So what is standard if 2.56 is available?

I had the 2.56 on my 2007 Corvette and it renders 6th gear very nonresponsive. I put in a 3.15 in my 08 Z51 that had the 2.73 and 6th was so much better. Pulled very good and only lost 1-1/2 mpg.

Correct that A = Available/Optional. Code GU6 (3.42) is the standard rear across the board... unless you get an Automatic. 2.56 on non-Z51 autos, while 2.73 with the Z51 option on autos.

What is the 1 at the upper corner of the A?

If 2.56 is all that's available the I won't be buying a C7 unless I can work a deal with the dealer to swap out for a 3.15 and still retain the 5 year warranty. 2.56 is the worse gear! I could not stand it in my 2007 Corvette. 2.73 being not much better in the Z51 and I do not want the 19/20" tires nor the larger rotors that come standard with the Z51.

then it doesn't look like you'll be buying a c7.

it's interesting how much better the fuel economy on the m7 is than the a6 if they're limiting the rear to a 2.56 on the autos.

The "1" denotes the legend within the RPO Code row. For example: Since an Automatic trans is optional, then if you choose a non-Z51 Automatic Stingray Coupe (1YY07) it will automatically include the 2.56 limited slip rear diff. If you choose an Automatic Z51-equipped Stingray Coupe (1YX07), then it will automatically come with the 2.73 ltd slip rear instead of the 2.56 rear. Perhaps the Auto trany's close gear ratios does not necessitate the need for such a low (numerically high) rear axle ratio.

If you stay with a manual Stingray Coupe (whether 1YY07 or 1YX07), they all come with the standard 3.42 ltd slip rear axle.

So far the order guide only lists these three rear ratios... I recommend to wait until you can test drive an Automatic Stingray, both with and w/o the Z51, before deciding to opt out from buying a C7.

Yes it is. Personally, I'd want a manual tranny C7 anyway...

that 7th gear is going to be a clunker... unless your on the freeway; in which case it should be amazing mpg's.

7spd all the way.

Thanks Stingray! Makes sense now.

My 08 Z51 came with a 2.73 as noted above. There really is a need for a 3.15 based on my own driving experience. After driving the lower geared car you just don't want a 2.56 or 2.73 gear car. And no manual tranny for me. An automatic with a loose converter will beat a manual every time and also much more consistent for ET racing. Don't want to be holding down a heavy clutch in this Houston traffic either!

technically your best bet would be a dual clutch manual.

cause that will beat an automatic every time...

BMW 3 I don't consider a performance car with only just over 400 hp. It's less than $100K but still pretty expensive for the performance it gives.
