Spied: 2014 Cadillac CTS

2014 Cadillac CTS: This Is It
Jalopnik

February 6, 2013

The arrival of the Cadillac ATS has put the tried and true CTS in a bit of a tough spot. It's barely larger than the ATS, it's more expensive, and it's getting old. These are all bad things.

So the 2014 Cadillac CTS is changing. It'll be larger. And it'll have three engines, including GM's all new 3.6 liter twin turbo V6.

Also, this is it, exclusively on Jalopnik and nowhere else.

These pictures show more than we've seen of the new CTS yet. Hiding behind that silver CTS-V (Which is actually a special edition for 2013, it's matte silver and has some extra special stitching for $4,000, according to our tipster) you'll see a black sedan.

At first you might think it's an ATS. But then some details start to jump out at you.

Those headlights aren't as long. The side marker lights are in a different location. The grille is larger and more in your face. And that's because this isn't an ATS. It's the first picture of the 2014 CTS.

Cool. I'm more intrested in that twin turbo v6. Wouldn't shock me if that was the next Camaro SS engine in the 6th Gen.

I think someone mentioned the pictures looked like somewhere in LGR.

Someone's getting fired for sure.

It would shock me. Folks on the Corvette team said that they tried it in the C7, but abandoned the TTV6 because it didn't get any better fuel economy than the LT1.

Please don't let this be the new CTS!

That looks like a car for my Grandparents.

I sure hope you are right!!! I would rather have the LT1 than the TTV6.

I think that probably changes in a lighter car where higher gearing can be used. The V6 with little assistance from boost would likely get along as well or better up slight inclines than the LT1 while in 4-cylinder mode. But thats just speculation....I have no real idea which would be better. Just educated guessing.

As for the styling. I will say upfront that I really like the ATS in pretty much every way. If the CTS ends up looking like the ATS...well then I can say I'll think it is attractive. I do feel it would be ashame to make it look TOO much like an ATS which it does look very ATS like in that photo.

As for the rear...I'm not digging it. Looks like something for the old white haired guy that is doing well in his retirement years. I didn't think that was the target audience for this car, but maybe it is now that the ATS here, and the CTS is moving up in size. Guess that could make sense.

The front looks good, the back is a little soft... which gives room for the V Series to make it more aggressive rather than the lightly styled V series of current!!

From the Side front view it looks pretty good but what the heck happened to the rear end it looks OLD. I thought they were trying to lower the age of their buyers.

It's got THREE ENGINES? That's way cool! Can you use them all at the same time?
