I have my theories, but nothing certain. I think SVT used the ring as a benchmark. They seen what the competition put down and ran their car to see what it would do. I dont think they will release their times because of a couple of possibilities. First thought is that SVT doesn't want to make a hero run that no other person or company can match. Whats the point of that? They also never released the 1/4 mile times, but I feel (like the ring) people will track their cars and see what they can do. The times and comparisons will happen, I just don't think that what SVT intends to do. Motortrend is one of said companies. Soon we will see a heads up. Good times!

Ya I definitely agree with you, it's gotta be faster than that; a 5.0 gt could easily do that in optimal conditions. That's 2000 lancer evolution/nissan 350z territory. 280hp with a good chassis.
I think the gt500 pulled an honest 7:55. I don't think the zl1 will ever record another 7:41 there in any set of conditions. I foresee it running 7:55-7:50 realistically. If it takes weeks to pull a time, it's not very repeatable. I'm sure Dodge could get a 6:59.999minute time for an acr if they stay there for weeks but even they don't see the point in that. The impressive thing to me isn't the peak performance of the zl1 but instead the ease with which it's driver can get about the 90% of that potential out of it. I think 10 optimal runs in the gt500 and zl1 on most tracks with the same driver would tell the same tale, zl1 being telepathic, gt500 being very involved and in need of a firm driver to keep it in line. The zl1 would probably be a litter faster if all the laps were averaged. I could see a perfect lap in the gt500 being fastest of all times between the 2, but on average the zl1 should be .3-.5 seconds faster per lap unless a seriously experienced driver is conducting the laps. The zl1 in most peoples hands is a faster car; mr and IRS inspire a lot more confidence vs 675hp (600whp is more than 662hp, 690 realistically) and sra. I'm excited to see what the 2015 gt500 will do; might have 700hp and I do know it'll be irs as well as lighter. Should be a great car. Chevy and dodge have great models coming up too, that cuda should be hot. The zl1 can only get better with the new plans, weight loss and so forth should be great.
