Here is a fact: the GT500 hit 179 at the ring. The ZL1 hit 172 on the same strait. The GT500 kept a higher corner speed at the turn after this strait as well.

Am I to assume you were there and recorded this? I have not seen any video yet of this. Just wondering.

So what was the lap time? Being faster at one point doesn't mean much.

Yeah me too. I'm sure there are some sections where the GT500 is faster. I'm sure there are some where the ZL1 is faster.

The times they ran may never be posted. I dont even know what the final time was. But I can tell you was what already said. Here is what I know as per a friend of a friend...

ZR1 top speed - 183 (most recent)
GT500 - 179
ZL1 - 172

I do also know that the ZL1 was able to continue to accelerate through the turn post strait as the GT500 let off. Regardless, the GT500 still had a higher speed through the turn. Btw, for the doubters, my source is the same person that said the GT500 will put down north of 650hp and run mid 11s or better at the strip. He works for Ford, that is all I can say.
