The only thing you can tell from the Nascar car is the general shape, which is going to be identical between all 3 anyway. Some of the detailing will be different, but you can't see any detailing on the Chevy due to the camo.

I'm excited for GM to be stepping back into the V8, RWD ring! I had a serious car-crush (...in a good way) on the G8, and nearly bought one in the spring of '08 when they first started appearing around here.
However, I have to go with the crowd and say "SS" is the stupidest name yet! So what will the Performance version be called? SS SS? SS Grand Sport? There are alot, and I do mean alot, of names that Chevy could draw upon..like Monte Carlo, or yes..even Chevelle. Hell, I would be happy if they brought back the Nova name plate. However, that being said, I sure hope that GM doesnt show up to the party a day late and in out of vogue style! I sure hope they have a high performance version to fully and properly compete with the Charger SRT8 and dont just settle for "less". But, never the less, at least they arent completely MIA like Ford is. |

Identical? Do some research on the 2013 Sprint Cup racecar.

It will be the Holden Commodore V8. Holden is GM's Australian logo. It will basically be a Pontiac G8 which was based on the Commodore. Check out my albums to see more.

And who cares if it's a rebadged Commodore? It's not sold here as anything else. That's the way you should rebadge cars.

But based on what I've seen of the Charger & Fusion (and now the SS) I think its pretty safe to say that all the important bits will remain the same between all the cars. By that I mean the wheel base, the side profile, and other things like that. Sure, they have a different fascia & the bodywork on the side is a reminicent of the production car. But its all being grafted onto the CoT chassis. But that also means that every major exterior dimension will be almost the same between all the different race cars and those dimensions will not be shared with the production car. This should be obvious to anyone looking at the pictures of the cars. Now, the point that I was trying to make is that while there are some details that are different (like side bodywork) ... those details are hidden by camo on the Chevy. The only things you can see from the picture are the things that are going to be common with the Dodges, Fords, and Toyotas. Nothing that is SS specific was actually shown in the picture that GM provided. We can't tell anything about what the production car will look like from that picture, which is what I said in my first post about this. You said that it was pretty indicitive of the production version. I don't see it, so please inform me as to what I'm missing in that picture.

It looks like a Caprice to me. Does that mean we'll have a Carpice SS?

The car in the picture you attached is a HSV GTS E3. It came out almost a year and a half after the G8 ceased production and included quite a bit of technology not offered in the G8: Magnetic Ride Control and iQ to name two.
