If anything, I think you're the one with the inferiority complex here. Nobody said anything about the 5.0 being the fastest car out there, and while the Corvette is much lighter and faster than the Mustang I don't know what that has to do with anything. The OP asked about the power and weight of the 5.0 relative to the Camaro and Challenger, and that's what I was addressing. The 5.0 isn't perfect (I'd rather have the suspension and manual tranny of the Camaro for example), but you can't get that pissed when people are just giving known performance numbers. |

All I know is I have actually beaten a couple of Camaro SSs, but I have yet to beat a new 5.0 yet... For what ever reason, power, live axle, etc, it seems that the average driver can pull off better times in a 5.0 than an SS...

I was not mad about anything. But I just proved my point about you guys getting your panties ruffled. I don't really care what you write, facts are facts. And didn't I just write, don't bring up the Vette? They are made specifically to their design and power. I'm talking about our class of vehicle. And yes 300lbs does make a difference, that's what makes the Rustang a wee bit quicker. Go back and read what I wrote again. Geez, some people.

Doesn't matter what all the specs say or the dyno sheets say... the only thing that matters is the ETs on the timeslip...

I don't believe the 5.0 does in my experience...( Stock vs Stock) including factory tires... When I was stock I didn't have (1) 5.0 pull on me...Maybe they cant drive
I had one that stayed at my rear door the whole 1/4... If they produced more hp he should have gained on me.........( lets not forget my car weighs 4,350 with me in it)....

Now if we are strictly talking base 5.0L's in Mustangs and not the e85 capable 5.0L in the f-150 pick ups it comes down to a lot more then just more then weight. The main reason I think its quicker is because of the 5.0L's ability to rev higher and be in its power band longer all the way to its redline vs the LS engine that has a shorter power window and falls off the closer you get to redline. The next reason would be its shorter gearing in the transmission, not in the rear end because the quickest mustangs run the tallest gears like 3.15's and 3.31's. Low end LS grunt doesn't really pay off at the track because its only in the low revs for less then half a second through out the whole run vs these 5.0L's are that are launching at 6,000rpm and never see anything less then 5,000rpm down the strip. I say these things somewhat based off of what I see once equal mods are added to each car but it still hold true for stock vs stock.
