OK, keep in mind these are Canadian dollars being thrown around and yes $76/hr total renumeration is the number Chrysler has indicated that they are looking for the $19/hr reduction on. Let see, $76 X 40hrs = $3040/week X 52 weeks = $158,080.00/year. I am not sure of the exact hourly rate being paid, but lets say for arguement sake it is $26/hr. This would only account for $54,080.00 of the $158,080.00/year. So what do you get in benefits that are worth $104,000.00/year?

To put this in perspective, a General Practitioner (GP) Doctor in Ontario is making on average $125,000.00/year and works considerable more hours to earn it. The average Ontario household income is $80,000.00/year. Does something seem to be a little out of wack?

Much of that is misrepresented, because retiree's costs are included in that figure.

total health care for life is one thing, a big one in fact. And included in the $76/hr is the pension costs so the worker never sees that money. After that, I'm not sure what side benefits they get or how much they add up to.

No they are not to blame, when Unions sit down with any company it is a give and take thing. The way I look at it, the Union did a hell of a job for the people. The union can not help the higher ups ran the place into the ground. GM could of always said "NO" to any offers made by the union, but they did not.

When the Government has to give you money to operate, you should be told what to do like a child. Maybe the government should of stepped up sooner to stop these crooks from raping the American public.

If that happens, you will be looking for another job, and that could very well be, at least in the short term, the very $7/hr McDonald's job you scoffed at.

If it were me, I would be looking for a new job in another field, but if I was unwilling/unable to change professions, then I would rather do what I know I am good at doing for less money than have no job at all. Especially in the current economy
1+.. A paycheck is better than no paycheck at all

BTW- And with all this bullshit going on ... you would think Daimler could front a couple billion to Chrysler considering that if Crysler do go down is going to cost Daimler Billions!!!!
