As Much As I Love GM.........

The dts has got to go. I was just at a caddillac dealer with my mom the other day and I was curious of how much a dts Is brand new. I saw on complete with nav, sunroof for 56,000? you have got to be kidding me? Don't get me wrong its a roomy car but its so outdated and over priced its not funny. hell you can get the new m45s for a couple of thousand more.

good it was a waste to be in the caddy line up. now if they can make a full body l99 powered caddy it would be a great competitor to the S class benz

Not a RWD 7-series fighter, but it will do well until the RWD flagship gets here.

Hell, as much as we enthusiasts constantly harp about RWD, I'd bet good money that 90% of 7-series owners have no clue which wheels drive their car.

I bought my wife a new 2006 DTS performance sedan in black on black with the black grill in February of 2006 and she absolutely loves it. She was getting out of the 1998 Autobahn optioned Aurora I bought her new in 1998. Still have the Aurora. Yes the DTS platform is dated ( really an updated Aurora ) but my wife loves the size, quiet, comfort, good power and decent handling for a large car her 2006 DTS performance sedan provides. She is not at all impressed with the CTS and only time will tell if the XTS or something later catches her eye. The DTS in all it's variants is/was a great car for Caddy and GM.

The DTS is actually a very nice car. I'm guessing, King Sun, you are in your teens or early 20's at the oldest??

For the older (average age for the DTS was welllll into the 60's) this represented Cadillac very well. Roomy, luxurious, quiet. I can tell you right now if I were picking a car to just go cross country but wanted a quiet comfortable cruiser, the DTS would be my choice. Plus it had a FWD V8 Northstar engine. And it will move that big car quite nicely. If you drove one King Sun, you might understand the appeal................if you could pretend you were older too.

Styling is a bit dated (a story behind that) but you could actually get a bench seat in the front row, rare in a luxury car, but important to some of the DTS buyers. And the trunk? Holy cow what huge trunk the DTS has. Another big feature.

But as Fen points out, they have built the last DTS (Hamtramk) and STS (Lansing Grand River).

Yup, the DTS was the last of the traditional Cadillacs...big, powerful, and comfortable.

We'll have to see how well the XTS resonates with DTS owners...it'll bring new and younger buyers into the Cadillac fold for sure, but the interior may be a bit much for some existing DTS owners...

yourright on im 26 yrs old but I do love older big caddy's also but with the strides gm are making In the Cadillac brand I just don't see how the dts could be still made. Actually im thinking about getting a 06 performance dts or a sts are a daily driver I just couldn't see paying 60k brand new for a dts.

DTS was nice, but it's got that old person would drive it look. I see DTS, I think retired person driving it. Nothing wrong with that, but in today's world cars need to appeal to a wider range of people and the new caddy's coming out do just that.

I owned a 97 Deville when for about 6 months when I was 19. Old person car yes, but that thing was comfortable. Worst part was no matter how fast you were going someone would assume it was an old man at the wheel and would try to pass you.

Both wife and I were in our late 40's when I bought her the all Black '06 DTS Performance Sedan. It certainly isn't a gen X car but the Performance Sedan is far from a "retired person" car. Our neighbors here in Knoxville want us to get a vanity plate for the DTS that says "WiseGal", since we are originally from NY our neighbors think a plate like that works, LOL. Two roundtrip journey's between Knoxville TN and NJ yielded nearly 24mpg at 70 to 80mph. The HPI version of the Northstar in the Performance Sedan versions is a lot stronger than the rated 291hp. I can't understand why GM is killing off the Northstar, a remarkable piece of engineering. I have a feeling the only way I will be able to get rid of my wife's DTS is by prying it from her cold, dead fingers. She loves her DTS, even more than she loved her '98 Aurora which we still have and my youngest son is driving. The XTS will have a tough time converting many if the best GM can offer is a V6 XTS.
