Pick Up trucks
My dad's friend is looking into buying a new truck but doesn't know which one to go with(Chevy, Dodge and Ford). So which 1 is the best bang for your buck. he will mostly be using it for camping and hauling his boat which isn't to big. He wants to get a 1500 4x4 but doesn't know which one to go with, right now he is leaning towards a ford because he says it has a higher ground clearance not sure if that is true or not.

Silverado rules.
It looks like the GM midsize segment is getting ignored (mistake), so go with the Silverado. |

Fords feel like your dragging an anchor and the interior feels cheap. Dodges make lots of power but suck down gas like there is no tomorrow and their interiors also feel cheap. The GM trucks, Silverado or Sierra, feel solid, make great power, and get decent fuel economy.

If I were looking for a truck... I'd be looking at an Avalanche.

I bought a very basic Silverado work truck 2 months ago and could not be happier. I got out the door with a brand new full size truck for 16k and change!!!!
A/C, AM/FM/CD/AUX Jack, Cruise Control and not much else. It gets the loads where they need to go. You probably need to get the V8, 4x4 version to tow the boat so obviously yours will cost a bit more. With the generous incentives they have been offering these days ($4500 to $5000 off sticker or 0% financing) it is hard to resist. We had a service tech from my office that HAD to have a Ford Super Duty pickup and it has been nothing but TROUBLE. Do a google on it and see what you can find. -Mark. |

My husband is driving his 3rd Dodge Ram 1500 ('96, '04, '07) and just loves them. We tow a boat and/or trailor with our two ATV's on it. Ya, gas mileage isn't great on any truck. He gets about 17-18 mixed driving. It is easy on the eyes too. Very dependable. Good Luck.

Ive got a Dodge Ram also, have been pleased with it. The new Ram uses coil springs in the rear instead of leaf springs like the others and has a really nice ride.

You cant go wrong with a Ram. They have a leather dash (not cheap), lowest price, best durability, good mpg a solid real world 18+ on the highway. Most bang for the buck and go through Costco for the lowest no BS price all without leaving the house. Tell him to drive all 3 and price all 3 equipped how he want them and the choice may be crystal clear if he want the most bang for the buck.
4wheeler magazine always rave's about the Ram on their long term testers, they beat the heck out of their test trucks and the Ram has proven to be the best overall pick to live with and own for 1/2 ton 4x4's in the past few years. |

Really can't go wrong with any of them. By them I mean GM, Ford, and Dodge.

Dodge, being the current owner of an 05 ram 1500, i like it. If you like ground clearance, get the 20" rims. I have them and you have plenty of clearance. Also the hemi is a beast. Tons of power. Gas mileage is bad, about 16 on the highway. But the newer ones do better.
Chevy, Don't know much about them. They offer a new 6.2 with 402hp. But its only available on the crew cab. Ford, Don't know much, but they don't offer the best looks or performance. The only sweet for truck is the svt raptor. If he wants to do real towing, he needs a 2500 diesel. |
