Scratch under hood

Preparing my baby for her grand debut out of hibernation, taking some pictures to get a quote for some ppf, pop the hood to disconnect battery tender.

Where do my eyes go? What do I see? A scratch! Less than 500 miles and I've got a scratch under my hood. This must have happened at the dealership as I have only gone under to connect the battery tender.

Here is the scratch.

Can someone give me a rundown on how I can cover this up without looking obnoxious? I'll refrain from complaining about the various scratches the dealer left on my car, as it infuriates me to no end.

Hopefully the ppf procedure will take care of the outside scratches but this one under the hood seems to be a bit more involved.

Let me know!

Ps. Don't mind the water spots (from the dealer) I got her in the winter and I've just recently bought the proper washing supplies.

These cars come with microns thick paint, a factory touchup paint pen with a steady hand is your best bet. And if your outside scratches are down to primer, PPF will not fix/cover that.

Fortunately the outside scratches seem to be in the clear coat.

I can definitely tell the paint under the hood is thin as hell.

Would this be an appropriate match for my riverside blue?

I use one of these with the GM touch up paint and it works very well. Much more accurate than the pen or brush. https://www.amazon.com/Custom-Shop-F...s%2C121&sr=8-4

This color code (WA627D) should be a 100% match, see https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintde...?gmcode=WA627D.

The fine line applicator Deacon Blues linked to is a great idea

if you dont have a polisher. get a MF rag and polish and give it a good go by hand. It will not remove it but will round the edges and get rid of the white look as it will not be as noticeable anymore.
If you want to get paint. Get either Dr Colorchip or Chipex. using a dealer paint pen will ake it looks messy. The other 2 will let you level it nicer so it blends better

Thanks for the tips guys.

Excited to put some miles on this thing this year.

Will try taking a MF rag to it first, and will be purchasing the fine line applicator as well, if not just to have around.

Will post results if I remember!

The very best results I've ever gotten with touchup is I think it's Dr Colorchip but it's the dab/smear/dry/buff w solvent method.

Dr Colorchip works well indeed, and an underhood location is the best test surface for perfecting one's technique, because its application is more involved than just dabbing paint from a touch-up pen or bottle.

I order one of those amazon touchup kits and it discolored with the sun light. It basically ruined the paint for me. The car is white and touchup is yellow now.

Go to a paint shop that works with body shops and have them prepare a touch up kit, with your paint code. Paid $35 for a 2 coat kit.
