I am selling my camaro and need help on the price
Hello, everyone, I am selling my Camaro. It's 2012 Camaro 2ss.
Mileage is 55,000. Title: Savage repair I had to repair the car because it overheated. There was a leak in the oil to the radiator fluid mixing up. The car doesn't have any more problems with the motor heating up. New radiator, new hose, new water pump, and There was a time that the steering wheel got hard to steer when slowing down. New tied rod was replaced. It steers great now. New front tires and balance new rim nuts. nice looking. cost $50 Just did the alignment The only thing that does not work is the A/C. I changed the evaporator and the port where the freon can hose gets connected but can't seem to find the freon leak. I put thousands of dollars into this car. The Camaro has a body kit which looks way better than the original Camaro's. It also has a sunroof. |

2012 2SS with <55k miles and clean CarFax go for about $18,500 to $20,000 RETAIL.
Minus two to three thousand from that range for a rebuilt title ($15,500 to $17,000). 95 potential buyers out of 100 will not even consider a salvage/rebuilt title. YMMV Minus another $500 - $1000 for non working AC... Also will loose a few potential buyers. I would fix the AC if any way possible. JMHO

Why does it have a salvage title?
KBB says salvage price is a 20-40% deduction from book value, Consumer Reports and others 50%, all say every situation is case by case. A/C issue will probably reduce the price another $1k or so. I'd take it to a few dealerships to see what they'd offer to get an idea. |

The previous owner said the car was crashed. Front of the car only. I fixed everything that needed to be fixed except the A/C

Many insurance companies will not insure a vehicle with a salvage title; of those that will, most will only provide liability coverage. As a result, this alone will cut the price many will be willing to pay in half, if not more. The majority of those that will even consider buying it will be looking for a vehicle to build for the track, so the AC not working may not be an issue. Given all of this, I would say at best you are looking at is somewhere between $10k-$12k … hope I'm wrong & you can get more, good luck.

As stated above, there are some people who avoid cars with a branded title. Is the title still listed as salvage or is it listed as rebuilt? There is a big difference there. There will be no issue insuring the car with a rebuilt title. Also, many banks and credit unions will finance vehicles with rebuilt titles. Salvage titles would not be the same. You also cannot reguster. Car until it has been issues a rebuilt title. It will be important to note what was damaged to cause the branded title. As far as value, if the vehicle was worth around 18k in the same condition with a clear title... you should consider listing around 14k.

Keep in mind that you're probably going to have to lower the price just to get someone to buy it. Most people stop reading as soon as they read "salvaged".
