root canals?

Has anyone had root canals done? If so, do they hurt? How long did it take? About how long did the discomfort last once it was done?

It took them about 1 to 1 1/2 hours to do mine. It only hurt a few times when she was getting a few straggler root ends out of there. Other then that not too bad.

Well technically, they are connected to the nerves in our jaws (under the gums)

Fortunately it's not hurting yet and I have no discomfort but two of my teeth chipped after my gf kicked me (playfully but strong). My dentist said that I'm facing two root canals, but I've decided that I'm going to take a look around and see what's the general consensus of a few other dentists beside him.

No I dread dentists. It's the only thing that scares me. Honestly, I'd rather go skydiving than going to the dentist.

Also, did they put the crowns on during the same session, or did you guys have to go back for them? I know that dentists do it either way, whichever they like more.

I had two root canals. Wasn't soo bad. Let me tell you, i had infections in both teeth, and that pain was the killer!! No i didn't have my crowns done then. I waited several weeks. Then they put temporary ones on. Then, when the finished versions are ready they yanked the temps off. ugh!

I am the same way, I kept putting it off until the pain in the tooth was so bad I couldnt take it any more. The pain from putting it off is twice as bad as the discomfort of hating dentists. Trust me, man up and get it over with before it gets worse.
