The reason why Airbus is doing an A350 was driven completely out of fear of the 787.

Yep. Airbus.. good luck. We need more lawsuit fodder for when vertical stabs fall off in flight and/or rip to shreds because Capt. Oveur needed to put in hard right rudder within tolerances.

Its great that Boeing actually has something new. Seems they've lost quite a few contracts or just cancelled plans over the last decade or so. From anything I've heard, the dream liner is supposed to be a pretty nice aircraft

Nice is an under statement.. coming from a guy who was accepted to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University a few years back, to become a commercial airline pilot, I'd call this my dream plane.
