Something tells me he's going to have to pay for that out of pocket, no insurance company worth a hill of beans would pay on that claim.

That sucks, that's an easy $10,000 repair since more than likely not only the body but the drivetrain got torn up too.

He would likely have signed a liability waiver before the car was put on the Dyno. So he would have to pay himself. I cant see it being the Dyno owners fault either.

No certainly not the dyno owner-operators fault.

It looks like it was a high speed tire failure. Maybe he went cheap and got improperly rated tires for that high speed? Thankfully it was only on a dyno and not out doing a high speed run on an airport or worse yet a public highway. A blowout like that at that speed would have been a fatal accident, no doubt about it.

the slow speed shot of the tire starting to wobble as the belts let got was wild to see.

Never understood people spending 5k on rims, but tires, "nah, we'll go bargain basement on those to save $". Not saying this guy's rims are 5k, but in general, people save money on the most vital parts

I feel bad for the dyno owner, the rim looks like it dug a groove into the drum.

That could be what it was, that stuff is highly explosive. That seemed like more than just a tire blowing out seemed to have more force. Most damage from a blown tire is mostly from the steel belt and tire treads rotational mass hitting or being thrown outward, that seemed more like a out ward immediate explosion.
