Driving Pet Peeves!

What are your pet peeves when you are on the road?

Here are a few of mine:

  • Not using your turn signal
  • Not using your turn signal early enough for a turn
  • Driving in the left lane
  • Not allowing others to pass you
  • Texting while driving
  • Talking on the phone while driving (unless hands free)
  • Not merging properly
  • Hitting brakes for no good reason
  • Driving like an idiot (weaving in/out of traffic, excessive speeding, etc)
  • Making a left turn from the right lane (unless marked)
  • Driving on the shoulder when traffic is backed up
  • Stopping past the white "stop" line at an intersection
  • Get infront of me and continue to drive slow
  • Turn infront of me, go slow, then make a turn off the street
  • Using fog lights when you don't need to
  • Passing me on the right before I get a chance to safely get over
Those are just a few... whats yours? hehe

That's a stressful amount of pet peeves. I drive always in consideration of others but I also excuse everyone for being stupid or an idiot before they commit the act. Btw my worst pet peeve is having rap music blasting with mf n this at a stop light when you have you kid with you.

People who drive in the Left lane
Left lane hogs
Slowpokes in the passing lane

Oh ya, and people driving in front of me at or below the speed limit in the LEFT LANE!

See a pattern here

Around here in Eastern MA, the norm is now to travel 10 or even 15 mph under the speed limit one minute, and then the same guy who was doing 20 in a 35 zone speeds up to 45 as soon as the limit changes to 35 or 40.

This morning at 8 am I'm driving back from the grocery store. 45 zone the whole way. No cars except one in front of me...doing 35 in a 45

Another good one: people doing the speed limit on the highway jumping on their brakes when they see a speed trap. The cops don't give you credits for going under the posted limit. If you weren't speeding...don't slow down. I am convinced this is a huge contributor to highway traffic here.

Biggest one for me is people that act like traffic signs and lights are just suggestions.....or just plain not knowing or caring what they mean.

People that don't properly maintain their car and have no brake lights or any lights at all at night.

General lack of following ( or knowing )the rules of the road.

Just in case you do not know it in most states the speed limit means you can do up to the posted limit if this is a none divided 2 lane roads and streets. It does not you have to do the limit. Now if it is a 4 lane road 2 lanes in each directions the ones doing less then the speed limit should stay to the right hand lane.

I'm 42, and this ain't my first rodeo

You need to take my word for what I'm saying, or else move out here and experience it. They'll do 15 under in a 45, and when the speed limit changes, they speed up to 10 over. It's bad driving, not super-conscientious drivers that are keenly observing road conditions. I don't mind the optimism but you sure give the average joe a lot of credit for driving ability.
