A little introduction

Well, as you can see from my sign up date and my post number, I have been here for a little while already. I mostly post from my Nook Color and don't really trust it for any type of real post.

I got my Camaro on April 28th and was really excited to be able to purchase it from Hall Automotive out in Chesapeake here in VA. Had heard about the car (and of course saw Transformers), but I was more of a Mustang fan. In '05, when the new model came out, I tried to get one and they weren't willing to sell me one and I ended up getting a four-door Focus SE since they were trying to push out their remaining stock in preparation for the new model in a few months.

Fast forward to this year and I had the Focus paid off and wasn't very happy with it. It didn't have a personality, was easily lost in a car park (was silver) and I just had horrible mental connections with it since my girlfriend at the time I bought the car just dumped me at the dealership with no way home so I either had to buy the car or walk.

Anyway, I work for Canon here in the Chesapeake area and they were offering an employee discount at the local Chevy dealer and I decided to check out the Camaros since I had fond memories of a IROC-Z a friend of mine let me drive back when I was in High School and actually went to get my license in.

Well, the place I went to was (seemingly) really nice, but ended up wasting my time and telling me I wasn't able to be financed. Was pretty bummed because I fell in love with the car when I test drove it. It was incredibly roomy (especially compared to my Focus) for my 6'4" frame and my legs literally protested having to go back and drive the Focus for a week. It also drove beautifully and had a lot more personality and speed than my Focus as well, even with just the V6 model.

Well, on the 28th I went out and checked out another dealer that gave me an online approval of my credit, took money off the sticker price for inquiring online, and gave me more in trade-in as well. The people at Hall were really amazing and even came out to congratulate me as I took the car home. Everyone from the sales team and even the upper management came out and shook my hand and really made me feel like my purchase mattered to them.

I am just flat out in love with this car and do not regret purchasing it for a moment. It has moves, looks, and comfort and I look forward to driving it for many years to come.

Just wanted to put out a short version of my purchasing story and introduce myself to the board. I read a lot of the threads in the General area and really find a good number of the people here to be informative and friendly.

I had a girlfriend when I got the car and she got that permagrin when I let her drive it the day after I got it. She just loved how it felt on the freeway. Unfortunately she felt this relationship wasn't right for her anymore so she left me last night... so I have a lot more free time to spend on here than I did before.

Anyhow, I'd like to say thanks for setting up a place like this for the owners of a really amazing car and look forward to meeting at least a few of you at the meetup in Newport News later this month.

Oh yeah, though I have pictures of it in my garage, here's a picture of Alicia:

Welcome,
Nice car, love that color.
Great write up. These cars do get the attention.
I still (even after after 30K+ miles) look over my shoulder at the car as I walk in to work, and smile.
There is a ton of great information on this site, with a bunch of great people willing to help and share their experiences.

Again welcome and enjoy!

Nitsua, CONGRATS on the new ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
