All New V8 RWD Sedan, Chevelle?

The All-New Chevrolet RWD Sport Sedan: What We Know (So Far)

by Manoli Katakis
GM Authority.com
Apr 9th, 2012

General Motors has been very secretive about its Chevrolet models launching in 2013. And frankly, it’s going to make 2012 look like a joke in comparison with the all-new C7 Corvette, next-generation Silverado and a new addition to the lineup: a rear-wheel-drive sport sedan. That last of which has been an especially hot topic as of late, since Chevy confirmed its arrival in a press release, tying its launch into the next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The Australians have great suspicion that this new Chevy is going to be based off the Zeta-based Holden Commodore, and many signs are pointing to that — but we don’t think it will be called the Commodore here in America.

Rest of story at link: New RWD Sedan

Chevelle? Caprice?

Oh God I hope not. I don't want them to slander the Chevelle name like they did to the GTO. Just name it something else, please.

EDIT: had some time to process it, they said sedan. I think they may be talking about the Caprice they currently sell for commercial use and making it available to the general public.

Either way, my above statement stands.

I'd expect a Caprice before a Chevelle. Actually, I'd expect a new Lumina or Bel Air before a new Chevelle. Too many expectations with name plate.

I would be all for a new Chevelle as long as GM approaches it like Dodge did with the Challenger.

This, the Charger turned out great. But I'm not betting on this happening, although I was wrong about the Camaro coming back.

I don't mind a 4 door Chevelle, it's been done before

I'm just ready to see what it is going to look like!

well this is good timing. im doing a small project, a print ad for a new chevelle. what would you guys say they'd market the car too? on topic though, id really like to see the Chevelle return but not like the GTOs return. i agree a caprice is more realistic

I think he meant to say Challenger.

It needs to look almost exactly like the 1970 model if they do bring it back.

Those are worth considerably less than the 2 door models. Nobody thinks of 4 doors when they hear Chevelle.

And it won't, so they should keep the nameplate retired.

If they call it Caprice I'll only think of a land yacht. I know I'd never want to own something with that name.

I agree with you on that. I pretty much prefer any 2 door over 4 door version (Impalas, Malibus, etc...) My post was just about it has been done before, so it shouldn't be a huge shock if they call the 4 door Chevelle. I like name Chevelle better than Caprice. Caprice was the top of the line Impala.

I think people were in arms about the Charger because it returned as a 4 without ever being one in its history. Just like people (me included) were in arms about the Impala being FWD when it was re-introduced in 2000.

I guess I am in the few that thinks the Charger turned out better than expected. If Dodge really went based on the last Charger on the market we would have had a 4 cylinder, FWD Charger
